I'm just a ghost.
Once I get my copy I am picking Rowlet. I recently beat Pokemon Ultra Moon last year and that was the starter I picked and I really loved him. So thats why I am going with Rowlet.
I was initially thinking of going with Rowlett because back in Gen 7 I always went with Litten, but since seeing what the final evolutions of the starters were I had to go with Cyndaquil. I'm a sucker for sleepy eyes (and the dumb immature part of me needed to make a weed joke too haha).

I thought about going with Oshawott, because I love water types, but after looking at a few articles listing pros and cons for each, decided on Rowlet. Not sure if I'll keep them in my main 6, but at least for now, they seem a good choice.

i went with oshawott even though i normally go Snivy in gen 5 playthroughs. He’s just so cute and his hisuian form is pretty solid. i like cyndaquil’s line but I was already planning on having arcanine on my team since it’s one of my favorites and the new form is really cool. Rowlet is cool and all but i’m not a fan of the grass/flying typing or it’s hisuian form

I picked oshawott but totally regretted it a couple hours into the game. thankfully I read that you can catch the other starters in the game also so I am hoping to get cyndaquil!!

Following up my first post as I said I would. As mentioned, I was quite indecisive between Rowlet (my favorite starter) and Cyndaquil (because of Hisuian Typhlosion's cool typing). I initially didn't really like Hisuian Decidueye's design, but warmed up to it and now I really like it.
Cyndaquil initially won out because of Typhlosion's typing, but soon after I chose it and played a little, I decided I really wanted to be able to travel through the main story with Rowlet as well, so I traded Cyndaquil to a friend to hold, restarted, picked Rowlet, and then traded to get my Cyndaquil. So yeah, I chose both. I was tempted to get Oshawott while I was at it since it seems to be the best for the purposes of the story, but I figured I can just wait and get it later.
I'm alternating my team around as needed, but yeah, Rowlet and Cyndaquil, which are now on the verge of being Decidueye and Typhlosion, are mainstays.

I went with Rowlet because I love owls! I didn't really consider types at all, just saw the Cute Little Owl and made up my mind immediately.
I sometimes wonder if I should have gone wih Oshawott for a truly "new" experience though, since I've never played gen 5 and haven't had any experience with any of the gen 5 starters.

Originally I wanted to pick Rowlet because he's definitely my favorite out of all available starters, but I kinda don't like how Hisuian Decidueye looks. I mean, Hisuian forms are fine in their own right, but Decidueye is my the least favorite one when comparing to their "normal" counterparts. So I picked Cyndaquil. Hisuian Typhlosion is a chill guy, plus I really like fire/ghost type combination. I have a soft spot for ghostly flames

I picked Rowlet since I like his first two forms (forgot I hated the third).
I always throw my starter into storage anyway in favour of catching my own, but this time around I at least waited until I had evolved him to his final form, probably because the game encourages you to actually catch and evolve Pokemon for once.

i chose rowlet bc i like owls heh. i really enjoy the hisuian decidueye, i think it looks good. maybe still pix dont do the evolve justice compared to seeing it in action.
my original team was rowlet, wurmple, shinx, buizel, drifloon, and ponyta.
levelled them all the way to decidueye, beautifly, luxray, floatzel, drifblim, and rapidash.
eventually subbed riolu for beautifly bc i wanted a fighting type in that spot instead, now levelled up to lucario.
recently subbed in a shiny chimecho i caught tho (for drifblim), just bc it's hilarious watching it in action
