I'll be picking Oshawott as I really like the final evolution Samurott, I have a soft spot for any Pokemon that resemble a seal or sea lion, this is one of my favourite starters overall (just behind Bulbasaur and Piplup) so I'm really pleased to see it getting a chance in a new game.
I'll probably be picking Cyndaquil! Only because Rowlet and Oshawott are my go-to starters for gens 7 and 5 respectively, so I already have plenty of experience using them.
I've not used Cyndaquil since I was 10, it was my first ever starter when I got SoulSilver, so even if I use Totodile now, I'll always have a soft spot for Cyndaquil,,
Rowlet. I always picked Popplio in Sun and Moon but Rowlet was a close second. I also really like Cyndaquil but I’d rather use something different. Then there’s Oshawott who is probably my least favourite starter in general.
Whether or not I will even bother buying the game will depend on seeing opinions on if it's any good once it's been released. So, there's no guarantee.
That said, if I do end up getting the game, I'd plan to use Rowlet. Rowlet is my favorite first-form starter and my favorite starter anything in general alongside Blastoise. I also feel like Decidueye and its archery would fit in well with the setting, which I'm sure is what influenced the starters they chose anyhow. Not particularly fond of Samurott, so yeah, between that, having already implemented Cyndaquil on a team recently, and my affection for Rowlet, it's any easy choice.
despite it not being my favorite type, when it comes to starters i normally always end up liking the water type the most. has been that way since i first played pearl (though galar broke that trend becus i actually liked scorbunny more).
i know it's not gonna be rowlet. it's cute, but i don't care for it much or it's evolutions. i love oshawott a whole bunch and cyndaquil and like they're evolutions, but oshawott's just a notch higher on my favorites then cyndaquil.
