Posting shirts - will they wear it ?

I noticed that villagers tend to wear designs a lot. And they often wear the bland default designs that are in the clothing shop from the beginning of the game. I'm trying to get rid of those - so I replaced them with my designs. Unfortunately, villagers still wear those damn old designs and influence others into wearing them.

So with this being said, I was wondering if villagers wear those shirts I mail to them at all ? I also noticed that they will very rarely do so, they always seem to prefer storing them in their house along with other furniture. Is there any solution ? Is there a way to make sure a villager will wear the shirt I send them ? What have you noticed when you mail clothes to villagers ?

Villagers are much more likely to wear a design they like. I've had times where no matter how many days I mailed the shirt, they still wouldn't wear it.

The best way I found for me to get a villager to wear a specific item was to have it as the only item in my inventory, then keep talking to them until they request to buy it off me. There's a chance they'll change into it on the spot.

If you mail them two of the same shirts, they will definitely wear it.

There been times where it doesn't happen, so you may need to send 3.

My villagers always wore those terrible default sign and right now, all the designs are Colored Stripe shirts and my town seem to be liking those designs for some reason. I'm looking for better designs, but it's not on the top of my list right now.

lol yea, it's a headache. I always make sure to get to work on a good town flag and then I replace every single default in Ables with it. So if they want to look tacky wearing a pattern, they can at least have town pride while doing so.
