PSA: New Game Breaking Glitch!

Just wanted to pass this info on to yall. When you unlock the ability to remodel your villagers homes DO NOT do it with your gate open. If you do it will corrupt your game. Nintendo addressed this issue on their twitter but I found out from the youtube guys. They are working on a patch for this.

This affects people who have HHP. Do not redecorate your villager's houses with your Dodo gates open because it can corrupt your save file.

DJStarstryker has linked the official Nintendo tweet about it. They are aware the glitch and working on a fix.

Thanks for making an individual thread about this. This is a major enough of a bug that people need to know. In case anyone wants more proof of this, here is the official tweet from Nintendo talking about it.

Basically, don't remodel your own island villagers' homes while your gates are open or it will break your save. Nintendo is working on a patch.

There was another thread made for this, but it's been buried to page 2 now.
So while this is a duplicate topic, it's still good to have on page 1 and near the top.

Yikesy zikes! I don't leave my gates open often, but when I do, I tend to forget that I had them open and keep playing with them open. Good to know!

Thank you. I didn't reach the point where you're allowed to customize your villager's houses yet, but even then, it's always better to know about these things in advance, as to avoid a problem like this.

Yeah, I saw this earlier. Thanks for (doubly) bringing it to TBT's attention.

As for me, I'm probably not going to get around to playing HHP yet, and if I do, then I won't mess with the villager remodeling feature until December. I'm super busy anyway, and finals are coming up, so this will be easy.
