Q about conversions, equivalent exchange, etc..

Q about conversions:
SO, I've been buying, selling, trading things with nmt, bells, tbt whatever you can think of I've probably done. But I've noticed it isn't consistent. and sometimes I can't help like i've been low-balled or i've low-balled someone. What is the standard???? it kinda drives nuts (sometimes) lol.

Q about sellers:
I know i'm new here so i don't know if the long time users knew about this or not and it's not in the rules of the forum from what i've read but i've recently had my first bad experience on this forum.

So what happened:

There was a seller on new neighbor network who was selling Phoebe for any DIY on their list. Phoebe is one of my friends dreamies and she had an open plot so I thought I'd snab her for her. I didn't have any of the listed DIY to give but I could make most the items they were looking for and I offered nmt if they wanted. I was the first post on this person's thread and the second person offered something similar.

So my second question stems from here:
Is it first come first served? or is it entirely up to the seller on who's offer they want to take up?

Continuing the story:
The seller didn't contact anyone back until about an hour and 30 minutes later (at least from what i know). and DM'd me this:
[REDACTED]

Which I didn't really like because if I made the items for this person and I didn't get Phoebe that means I would've wasted all of my materials that I've grinded for, for this person and all the time I spent waiting for NOTHING

MY POINT IS: What would I do in this type of situation and is there no rules/guides for situations like this on the forum??

But I thought If you are selling something everything needs to done on the selling thread from my understanding. So would that be on them or would that be on me? they were the one that DM'd me. Also I thought it was direct message NOT private and that's why you're able to share it when leaving feeback or etc.

The member above just meant that you linked a conversation and direct messages are private so we aren't able to see it!

Selling threads are not first come first serve if they are offer-based, and there's no set amount of time that people have to reply to others on this forum Both you and the other buyer offered a different set of items (since you didn't have the cherry blossom petals), and the seller decided to sell to the first person who visits their town.

Auctions need to be done on auction threads, but selling threads are a little different. We can't see what the direct message said, but I'm guessing it was similar to their last post on their thread where they said they would DM you? So it looks like the seller was just sending you a DM out of courtesy so you wouldn't forget or need to check the thread.

I don't think anyone broke any rules or was showing poor etiquette in this situation. If you're not comfortable with it, you have no obligation to follow through, although keep in mind the other buyer also had the same risk as you

if anything needs to be disclosed, the contact the staff board can be used to that end. since they're the only people who would maybe need to see (and they should be able to on their own, afaik)

oh okay! Thank you so much for the clarification! I was bothered by the fact it was first come first type of thing so I didn't follow through just like you said! I'm glad for that other person got Phoebe though. Again, thank you for informing me and also taking time to reply to my post I really appreciate it!

Well I'm sorry it wasn't my intention to be rude... It was my intention to explain the situation. I thought it was open because of the fact you're able to add a link to feeback and other things like posts. I didn't realize that it's not visable to other people so now I know and I won't do that again. I am new so I don't know about some things here and there

100TBT=100k IGB is a pretty standard conversion rate for forum currency and has been the same for many years. NMT is fluctuating, it's gone down now from where it was a few weeks ago.

If you want to price things similarly to how others price them here, I recommend using the forum search feature! You can narrow it to the specific forum only rather than the whole site. It might take some extra time and research but if you are worried about getting low-balled that's where I would go!

There will never be an official conversion rate in regards to forum currency vs in-game currency.

I have removed the link to the seller's thread because it is unfair to put them up for public scrutiny. If you take screenshots of the conversation you had with the seller and send them to me then I'll be happy to look into this incident for you privately.

Oops, you're correct I made a typo! 10 TBT = 100k, so 100 TBT for 1 Million is what most people ask for @Kadori
