Question about bug/fish/sea creature spawning.

Are you able to find new species on another player's island? My brother has his island set to november, but I can't seem to find any lobsters or sea pigs. Maybe they're just really rare? I couldn't find the rare beetles I was looking for unless I looked on my own island or on mystery islands. Can anyone clarify?

Yes, you can. A lot of creatures in this game just have a really low spawn rate compared to other games in the series.

If you can go to another player's island, you can catch anything that is available on that player's island's season/month. Some creatures are just rarer than others.
