Will all DIYs be available on my island over time? Or, can I only get some by trading with other people? I only ask because I seem to get soooooooo many duplicates and I know there are a ton I don't have, and reallly want, super basic stuff like the log stool, wild log bench and garden bench. I can't seem to get my hands on. Thanks all.

I’m sure it is possible to get all the DIYs without trading by collecting them through villagers crafting, message bottles on the beach and in some balloons. Some of them can take a while to collect, mostly the Celeste and seasonal ones, and unfortunately repeats are pretty common but eventually you should be able to collect them all. I think some of them might be locked to certain villager personalities though so in order to collect all of them on your island you’ll likely need a villager of each personality.

you can get them all without trading! like the person above me said, some are locked to the personality types of your villagers so you will need all 8 of them. it also helps to visit some nook miles islands if you have some tickets left over because there is a chance of a bottle on the beach.

I know a trick you can do to get DIYS faster. As soon as your airport opens up you can go to someone's island who has the upgraded Nook's Cranny shop and if you go inside the Cabinet you will see all the DIYS you can buy in there (Keep in mind you need to talk to Tom Nook at Resident Services in order to get the DIY App). You can get all of the beginner DIYS easily for your tools and get others for making furniture. Also when your home is upgraded enough you will get the "Wildest dreams DIY" unlocked inside the cabinet in the shop.
As for anything else you can get DIY bottles on your beaches or go to the Nook Mile Islands to look for them. Also you can talk to your villagers because they can be crafting random DIYS. Keep in mind its all RNG so don't be surprised if you get the same duplicate DIY you already learned. Lastly and this is the most annoying one if you want to get Seasonal Item diys they are only found in Balloon Presents that float around your island. Listen to the sound of the wind and use your slingshot to shoot them down.
TLTR: You can buy DIYS inside the Nook Cranny's shop in the cabinet, get DIY bottles on the beaches, talk to your villagers while crafting, and get all the Seasonal DIYS from the Balloon Gifts.
