Questions/disscusion about switch bricking

So having gotten the games for the holidays I somehow came across a couple of people talking about their switches having been bricked (unrelated to that one event rumor, but seemingly related to sleep mode/game crashes.)

My assumption is that it's mostly rumors, what seems like a couple people who's switches bricked seemingly unrelated to animal crossing but connected to leaving it in the dock, and a few people who maybe did experience something that could be completely unconnected to animal crossing or could have something to do with it.

If it's only ten people (and maybe a few more unreported) out of however many million and not even all of those had anything to do with ac it seems like it wouldn't be a problem with the game, or else there would be more people talking about it, and more coincidence/other factors that are completely unrelated, but curious to figure out if there's any truth at all to this or if it's purely hearsay.

Most of the issues I've read about Switch bricking is the use of third-party docks and other devices. Trying to jailbreak your console can also brick the system. It could also be potentially due to power surges, improper power input and battery issues.

It's best to keep your system updated, use first party accessories, and charge it properly.

There are numerous claims of 3rd party docks bricking Switches as mentioned by @Rosch. I believe this is due to the unconventional way Nintendo handles power delivery. If you're using the official dock, and not installing custom firmware/homebrew, you should be ok. Though I'd never rule out the possibility of Nintendo messing something up.
