So my sister and I have noticed that the lgbtqia+ community has taken the black power fist and used for their community. As black Americans my sister and I are irritated. Don't get me wrong we don't mind the lgbqia community but it's a bit irritating that they used our symbol to show they want equality! MY SISTER AND I DIDN'T CHOOSE TO BE BLACK WE JUST ARE! as my sister says. "They chose to be gay lesbian trans and/or genderless they weren't born that way but we were born black so we deserve equality. It's not fair that that community..tries to feel like they deserve more equality than we do.." my sister has told me. I don't know I support you guys but please..don't take our symbol that has been used for generations and use it..it's starting to lose it's true meaning...sorry. I don't mean to offend anyone i'm just miffed and had to get out my frustration.

It’s used by black LGBT+ members to show a crossover in their identities as both POC and LGBT+ folk, from what I’ve seen.

Also, we don’t choose to be lgbtq? That’s probably the only offensive thing in this. It isn’t a choice. We are also born this way. Same way that I am mixed Roma. I’m also queer. I am not cis or straight even if I do really want to be.

But, yeah.... that’s what I’ve seen it used for in lgbt+ posts at least. If it’s used by people who don’t have a claim to it then, yeah, that’s definitely no good. And I get your frustrations.
