Real places with weird names

Never visited, mostly because it's Wales, but I've still heard of a very lovely name in a Welsh town. It's called... Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. (I think it's pronounced much differently to how it's jotted down.)

It's Welsh, but it translates... into a full description of the entire area. "St Mary's Church in the Hollow of the White Hazel near a Rapid Whirlpool and the Church of St. Tysilio near the Red Cave". Obviously it has a shorthand name, Llanfairpwll.
I've actually heard of that town, believe it or not!

LOL i was just thinking that one! XD and F**king Austria XD haha
That one changed its name actually recently for obvious reasons.

There's a street near my cousin's house called sesame street, which is ironic because he also lives in new york and sesame street takes place in New York

There's a place in California called Los Baños. It's Spanish for bath, toilet, bathroom, etc.

Sus Town, Idiot Creek,
Jackass Lane
, and Death Valley

not a weird name but i have encountered a street named orville rd and right by it is wilbur rd, it’s a strange coincidence because they’re both animal crossing characters.

Apologies if this was a joke, I can't tell without tone indicators ;w;
They're named after the Wright Brothers, like the inventors of the airplane 😊

Not weird. (I mean kinda weird xD). This is the longest name of a place in New Zealand. It's in Maori. I kid you not. You can google if you don't believe me lols. I copy and pasted this from google.

Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu.

How do you even?

The only thing that comes to mind is Tête-à-la-Baleine (Whale Head, I think), which is a place in Québec. I live in that province but I've never heard of that city, ironically. There's probably whales there. Anyway, I also thought that Baton Rouge (capital of Louisiana thank you, Wakko's America) was a bit weird, because it means "Red Stick" in French but it's in America? There's probably some history behind it that I don't know of.

Edit: Lake Titicaca, Peru. Animaniacs made a 30-second song about this, and the lyrics are: "Lake Titicaca, oh Lake Titicaca. It's between Bolivia and Peru. Lake Titicaca, oh Lake Titicaca. With waters tranquil and blue. Oh Lake Titicaca, yes Lake Titicaca. Why do we sing of its fame? Lake Titicaca, yes, Lake Titicaca. 'Cause we really like saying its name! TITICACA!" Call me immature, but it makes me laugh every time. XD

Just makes me think of this scene from Beavis and Butthead do America, when they show a montage of funny towns they go through:

Here in Massachusetts, we have:
  • Athol
  • Belchertown
  • Braintree and New Braintree
  • Cummington
  • Felchville (another in Vermont)
  • Gay Head, which did change their name to Aquinnah in 1997, but some places in Aquinnah still have that name like the Gay Head Cliffs
  • Sandwich
  • Satan's Kingdom (and another in Vermont)
  • Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg (longest place name in the US; I can actually say it, as well as Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch)
Other places in New England are:
  • Bald Head, ME
  • Cockermouth River, NH
  • Crotch Hill, ME
  • Friendship, ME
  • Gaylordsville, CT
  • Happyland, CT
  • Hazardville, CT
  • Mianus, CT
  • Mistake Island, ME
  • Mooselookmeguntic, ME
  • Nooseneck, RI
  • Old Lyme, CT (next to Lyme, which is where Lyme Disease got its name)
  • Ticklenaked Pond, VT

I'm Brazilian, my hometown is Don't-Touch-Me (N?o-Me-Toque). It was named after a throny plant.
Hey, another brazilian! :D
I know someone from a town called Pau Grande, which translates to Big Log/Wood. But pau nowadays is slang for penis so yeah......
