Recent Youtube happenings

if you guys are still confused about COPPA, this short animation should do the trick

I really do hope our voices are being heard and that those vague laws/rules will be heavily revamped to not take down innocent channels. A lot of the youtubers I watch will have their lives ruined if it were implemented today. Seriously, how are bright colours considered appealing to children if there are vibrant colours just about anywhere you look?!?!

Looks like youtube should be giving people a third "mixed audience" option. Not sure if this guy normally sounds agitated.

Posting the video would help.

So are they trying to find a solution for that whole COPPA thing now? Or is YouTube ruined in 2020 forever? Because honestly, whenever I look up recent news about it, one site says it's all good, the other site says everything is lost... This is just really confusing to be honest and I don't know who I should believe now.

TBH, parents should handle their children.

Honestly, this. It should be the responsibility of the parents to make sure that their children are safe on the internet, not the government or any other terms of service. All it does is punish adults just minding their own business.

Not to mention: According to the rules, you must be 13 years old to even have a YouTube account. Also, for what did they created YouTube Kids back then?

On the other youtube issue I mentioned. This lawyer addresses the ToS update where youtube says something like "we can delete any account that isn't commercially viable." As well as the Markiplier viewers losing their entire google accounts for emote spamming.

Just 30 seconds in he says "there is nothing legally to be done about it, aside from diversifying your choice of entertainment platforms." Youtube has been operating at a loss for a while, while crushing anything that might take their spotlight.

Some people think that the commercially viable thing targets those who just watch videos with an ad blocker. Of course some videos do still have an age gate that requires an account.

Unrelated but still related, it's insane of how many ads are on Youtube now compared to years ago. I listen to music on my phone through Youtube at work and just about every video has an ad. It's gotten nuts.

At least 2 before a video, and they got rid of yellow spots on whatever you call the bar, but the ads are still there.

I've been wanting to show this guy's videos on this, but he's Scottish. I might be able to share this one due to him trying to swear less. There was a video released by youtube saying they're working on things. Reception has not been positive.

Anyone else noticing losing the ability the add a video to a playlist?

-I got a notification that said " This action is turned off for content made for kids." I'm not going to post the vid, but it isn't for kids. This is going to be interesting to watch.

so do you reckon those with ad blockers (ahem.... ) are going to start legitimately getting the boot? or is that just speculation

It’s been said for a long time that nothing will change until YouTube gets some competition. Whether it will or not is anyone’s guess, but while YouTube has this immense power and influence over content creators, everyone feels like they have to do whatever they say just to be able to keep on the platform and keep being able to reach an audience. It’s very cruel, but if you create the problem you can create the solution.

I was listening to video game soundtracks today and I noticed a couple of them had their comments turned off. If I recall correctly. They won?t be enabled if they?re labeled for children. It seems like it has already begun.
