Thank you to everyone that has already participated! You all have been great. If you have not filled out this survey, you still have a chance to enter. Please limit your response to a single entry

We are a research team at the University of Missouri and the University of Washington who are studying people’s gameplay behavior, especially in the COVID-19 pandemic context. (We received permission from Jeremy to reach out to everyone here.)

The objective of this study is to understand the motivations of playing a social game and its learning aspects. The questions that we ask in this survey include: your general Animal Crossing game playing habits, motivations of playing the game, how you play the game with other players, playing the game in the pandemic context, and learning opportunities in this game.

We estimate that this survey will take about 15-20 minutes to complete. At the end of the survey, you can choose to enter a raffle to win one of the five $20 Amazon gift cards for your time.

Thank you for your consideration! You can join the survey by clicking this link: https://missouri.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6nAbyWSaB4lBlUF

Very interesting idea. Sadly I am from the wrong side of the pond to participate 😂 gbp not usd over here 💕

Happy to help out by taking this! Add me to the list of people eager to see the results when it's done. :)

I took the survey but then I realized how very, very little I actually play the game as a "social crutch." I haven't played online with anyone in a long time. actually, I've barely played the game at all in the last 2-3 months.
idk, I think their idea to kinda release a bit every month has really just taken the fun out of it for me. it doesn't give me the same level of satisfaction and happiness that I get from a game like Animal Crossing GCN.

I've also realized that my social life has literally not changed at all since this pandemic started. I mean I knew I was a shut in but good lord.

this was super fun ! thanks for doing this kind of media research. its such a delight to see.

also thanks for the multitude of identity options and the space to self describe. v important! good luck w your research 🙌🏻

I think your survey results from this post are going to be a bit biased towards the people who play this game more than average, considering the way it was posted on a forum that attracts the people that love it the most.

I filled it out anyway, hope it was helpful! Definitely some interesting questions in there.

Filled one out as well. I'm also curious to see results!

I wonder how many people on here use the forums to actually do those socialized visits vs. just trading items? I know I'm only here because it's easy to trade things, and the social visits in game are with people I also know outside of this forum.

You're not the only one ;) Nothing much changed here either, except I'm glad I no longer have to go to an office. I guess that means I've become even more of a shut in and not even regretting it XD.

Taking this survey made me realize that I should probably listen to Blathers more often because I've learned very little despite this game providing real life facts and information for art, fossils, sea creatures, and insects.

I personally responded to this survey and look forward to learning the results if they are publicly disclosed. :)

finally found time to participate in this! i gotta say, choosing my top 3 motivations for playing was harder than i thought it’d be since i literally have,, so many reasons to play lmao
