I feel you! I recently started a new island and this time around I wanted the perfect map. I still love my original island layout but there are things that bothered me a lot so this time around I was prepared and I knew what I was looking for.
I didn’t care much for fruit or villagers, because you can boot out your villagers easily and you can change all your fruit trees(I never look at the passport) but I was picky for my airport colour because I wouldn’t settle for either green or yellow.
Finally, after a couple of hours of resetting, I found my “almost” perfect map(the perfect one had the long pier but that was one of the thing I was ready to let go).
It took a lot of patience but I couldn’t be happier to finally have the perfect layout in my eyes
