Reviews / Feedback

Hmm. I don't know about that. Reviews usually will reflect the overall quality of the game. It's not a secret that City Folk did not meet Nintendo's sales expectations - especially since the Wii had a very strong user base. But the game was received with less enthusiasm by the reviewers, and the Animal Crossing community than the 2 previous versions. Why ? It disappointed fans with subpar graphics, a shallow new feature (the city), and not much new to add to the Wild World plate which came out 2-3 years before.

It might not affect our decision (us, the crop of enthusiasts that are maniac enough to be posting on Reddit or specialized forums like The Bell Tree), but if New Horizons was wanting, and disappointing it might lead to lesser sales on the overall than expected. Don't forget we are a very small portion of the Animal Crossing fanbase, and a tiny fraction of the overall video game players pool. Those, less informed, and more mentally stable bunch might just pass over New Horizons if the game garners a bad reputation at launch.

I don't think people should be labeled as being mentally unstable because they don't share your enthusiasm.

People will either love it, hate it, or be indifferent to it.

It's just an opinion, it's not a medical condition. :)

Oh ! I'm totally including myself in that bunch. I guess tongue-in-cheek irony isn't my cup of tea.

I like to read reviews just so I can get an idea of how other people like it, but they don't influence my decisions at all most of the time. I like getting the games I want the day they release so a lot of the time there aren't a ton of reviews for the games I'm buying. I don't really care whether other people like the game or not because that doesn't really mean I'm not going to like it.

plus I'm not that worried about the specs of a game and stuff. If it runs well and it's enjoyable, I'm happy. I like enough of the little we've seen of animal crossing to want the game regardless of how the reviewers see it.

I don't actually read game reviews or read much at all about a game before buying it. This has actually hurt me before so the only thing I try to be relatively confident in is the game's genre, as thinking you'll get one thing and then getting another is extremely disappointing. For example, getting a run-and-gun game when you think you're buying a platformer.

I plan to insulate myself relatively heavily from any reviews of this game just like I did with Link's Awakening and Pokemon Sword/Shield recently. It's actually not hard to avoid them. I prefer reading forum posts about the review / hype about the game far more than I like reading professionally-written opinions on the game. Especially with Animal Crossing, where you have no real concept of how the game is going to play out in the long run until you have 100 hours of play time in.

I never listen to reviews, as i'm my own personal judge, and usually the person reviewing the product needs to know what game it is...

so no, i wont be listening to feedback but i will be watching lets plays and playing alongside XD

I won't let reviews stop me. If I want to play, I'll give it a shot. If I don't want it anymore I can sell it.

I have no plans to read or watch reviews in the beginning. I like to do a blind playthrough and don't want the game spoiled.

Later after getting enough done I'll go back and watch/read reviews. Some streamers have said a game was the best one yet.
Months later they say it was okay.

I've play all the AC games and my least favorite was City Folk. Not a fan of the wii remote.

I'd prefer to form my own oppinion on a game and I usually go in blind for that reason. I do watch a lot of let's plays though so after I've played for a while I might get curious what other players think of the game, whether they share my oppinion or not.

Same. I like blind play and discoveries in each days. So I don't pay/haven't been paying much attention to reviews or trailers. If something's boring to me then it'll be boring to me, and if it's not, nothing affects me.

AC series is probably the one game series I’ll get without caring about reviews. Generally I like to see some sort of initial game play/review for other games especially if I’m not knowledgeable about the series, but ACNH trailer is enough for me :’D I also want to play this one blind without any prior knowledge or guides other than discussion of stuff I come across on the forums since that’s inevitable.

I?m not really concerned with other people?s opinions on this game. Unless I know them and they have similar likes and dislikes to me, their opinion with me subjective. What one finds negative another might find charming.

Besides..I?ve been looking forward to this game so much that I?m just ready to enjoy it and have fun.
There is always going to be someone with something negative or questioning to say. I?ll decide how much I like it.

What an interesting question. AC has always been such a happy part of my life that other people's opinions on the game wouldn't influence my getting the game one bit.

I only look out for reviews if I have no idea what the game is about. Like, if there's a technically "bad" Animal Crossing game I'll still just look at the trailers themselves and decide for myself.

I feel like these days it's pretty difficult to miss a gaming controversy, but at the same time different things have more importance to you than to other people. I love the new crafting system, but I understand if other people need a review for it to know if it's for them if they don't like crafting.

I just want to know if certain things are compulsory, or if there's an energy/stamina system.
Things that might make the game a little less enjoyable. I'd like to know beforehand.

It all depends. In my case, sometimes, if I really like a franchise, I'll willingly choose to ignore the few negative feedbacks the game might have and opt for buying it regardless. For the most part, though, I do weigh out the pros and cons of every game I buy. Regardless of how much I love Pok?mon, for example, the cons far outweigh the pros in buying Sword and Shield or Pok?mon Let's Go Eevee and Pikachu, so I'll choose to skip this generation of Pok?mon and try out a new game with that money (once I get a Switch, of course). I really like Animal Crossing, as well, but there are some things I just wouldn't support if they were implemented into the game, but it would have to take a lot for me to give it up for another game.
