More specifically like a castaway way feel. But I'm looking for advice

I have certain things, like all my lights are torches, I made some beach sand for pathing, have drawings in the sand.

I kinda wanna have like a rural abandoned seaside town? I'm looking for a few ideas, and advice. Any ideas on what to make? Or to make it feel more abandoned but not super spooky?

This is a new kinda idea. I've seen people with rural towns, so any advice? :) I'd prefer not super spooky. But any advice is good

ive seen people scatter pieces of stone wall fence to resemble broken building foundations and old stone walls. an abandoned house would be cool too. i think spider webs and dishes left out with the lights off could make a house seem abandoned

thats a tough question because nothing in the game seems to be creepy except for the halloween things and a few villagers. i did once see a post on here where someone had built a spooky type home by putting the valiant statues on the cliff above their house, but youre not looking for spooky. the spiderwebs is a good idea from moo_nieu too. also having a few tombstones might be neat, or the brown streetlamps.

Maybe some of the pirate furniture would be good? Like, the barrels on beaches definitely give them a "this washed up here" feel. WHen I had Vic (if you're looking for villager recommendations, I'd suggest him- definitely has a "ship captain that washed up here" feel to him) I had the area around his house with a little bit of a castaway feel and I used the different pirate barrels, some spiked fencing (out of all the fencing, I feel like it looks the most like it was haphazardly pieced together, though the barbed wire fencing looked nice, too), and even a ship's helm that "washed up" from a shipwreck.

Also, kelp is great for beaches- doesn't have a cage like some "sea creatures" and just looked like... well, washed up kelp.

And maybe some wild log benches on the beach for "driftwood"? Never tried that one myself, but it might work!

Overall, I'd just use a lot of natural looking things (like weeds and leaf piles) as well as things that look hastily/hand made (like the spiked fencing, torches, and those Simple DIY Workbenches that look like stumps)

Do you know how to get the spider webs? Or display them?

I'll have to find the tombstone DIY, but that's a good idea

The spiderwebs are indoor-only decor and are a prize from the Bug-Off. Also, the tombstone DIY is called "Western-style Stone" or "Zen-style Stone", depending on whether you want a more western style tombstone or an eastern one. I only specify the latter because, when I first got a "Western-style Stone" DIY I thought "that sounds stupid" then I saw it and was like "I DIDN'T KNOW I NEEDED THIS BUT I DID", lol

are you online CylieDanny? i have a few spiderwebs that i can give to you. i have six of them. you get them from the Bug Offs with flick.

ok so the Bug Offs dates are for the northern hemisphere
4th saturdays of july, august and september.
for the southern hemisphere its
3d saturdays of november, december, january and february
:D

OH! flick during the bug off will also give you toy centipedes and toy cockroaches both of which can be placed anywhere you choose :)
and he gives you my personal favorite, the artisinal bug cage, which will go with your abandoned design idea. its kinda creepy looking lol

My island has a similar vibe. I did abandoned campsites, made the island very overgrown with lots of trees, flowers, and bushes. I also used a version of the path that looks very dark and jungle like. I use a lot of green leaf piles, use a lot of stone and rock patterns, i use the mossy garden rock type furniture, weeds, bug models, planted coconuts, and barrels!

If you have a DA, I'd love to check it out! That sounds really neat!

If you want a castaway feel, you need to get yourself a volley ball. I guess some excessive weeds, rocks, and sticks littered about could also give it that feeling of abandoned.

And Flick has the cobwebs furniture piece you could decorate some homes in. Maybe even gift it to villagers unless they don't display wall hanging items.

  • a lot of weeds, stones, and sticks littering the area
  • use lots of wooden/bamboo furniture
  • broken up fencing here and there (in super dilapidated areas maybe use the barbed wire fence)
  • paths that randomly end to create a feeling of lack of upkeep
  • plant a lot of trees and bushes (maybe have some trees half grown like they're just coming in)
  • little farm areas (pumpkins, native fruit, use the watermelon ball to create a watermelon farm, etc.)
  • stick to lots of white/yellow/orange flowers for a more tropical vibe
  • gulliver items (moai stature, stonehenge, and hula doll especially)
  • gullivarr's items (especially the pirate treasure chest, maybe in a secret/hidden location?)
  • maybe an abandoned railroad track and/or a small cemetery?
  • some item ideas: lanterns, barrels, brick wells, black or brown streetlamps few and far between, a lot of the items you can edit to be mossy (garden rocks, tall lanterns, graveyards, etc.)
i think in general you wanna have a major focus on wood or bamboo and use stone items/fencing to accent around the island tbh

I’d also would like to see a dream address if you have! 😊

I love the idea of this theme! Definitely a lot of weeds everywhere. Green/yellow/white/purple mums and Lillies of the Valley go really well with weeds IMO. Maybe some old no-trespassing signs. Barbed wire fences. Rusty furniture and wooden furniture. Dirt paths and maybe a custom design street with cracks in it (I've seen one like it before somewhere on Reddit).

@Millysaurusrexjr

How do you get rusted furniture? Do you just customize it? Which furniture can be rusted?

I've been trying out all these ideas and they look really good, plus unintentionally picked up some spooky islanders.
