As I play more and more online with friends, I'm noticing that when people get disconnected from the internet, the game doesn't save. Is there a way to save during online play so data doesn't get lost?

For example, 4 friends cover over to catalog for 30 mins and for some reason, player 2 gets bad reception and gets disconnected from the island, it will reset with the other players coming out of the airport not having anything catalogued.

It's concerning and I'm wondering if I should go back home for it to save more often....

It's happened on two occasions that my Switch disconnects if too many people are coming or going from an Island. Thankfully the system had saved before kicking me out, but it's something Nintendo is going to want to fix.

I think it'll auto-save but waaay less often but I'm not entirely sure, could anyone help confirm?

I had a friend over while I was fishing for fish I havent donated to bathers yet. I managed to get a Stringfish, Koi and Char (not all in a row, but in that order) but sometime after catching all of them, my friend seemed to get kicked out from being inactive.

I know for a fact I caught the stringfish while she was over, and was mortified to not see it displayed in my house until i,, looked into my inventory and saw that at some point right after catching the stringfish the game must have saved. But it must not have saved during the long duration of me hunting for a Koi or Char

For now, I highly recommend periodically vacating the island to "manually" save and prevent this issue until its sorted out and also try sending in a report to nintendo for them to look into to.
