omg i thought this was about shipping packages and was really excited because i just ordered 3 things from amazon oops

i think shipping is nice to some extent! i think it's okay if the characters are fictional (unless the ship has to do with pedophilia or incest or bestiality or something else disgusting), but i'm sometimes uncomfortable when people ship real people together- those are real people who might someday stumble upon your fanfic about them and i feel like it can easily make things uncomfortable for the actual real people the ship is about (ex. with celebrities, a lot of people ship bandmates or whatever together, and i feel like that makes it awkward for those bandmates who feel like they can't act friendly or affectionate with each other because even platonic actions may seem romantic and its strains their relationship)

tldr: it's fine as long as it doesn't hurt/offend/isolate people! be mindful!

But I agree. There’s a ton of shippers who take the whole thing WAY too seriously and forget that it’s just supposed to be fun.

it really irks me shippers who ship irl people... besides that im ok with ppl shipping stuff but its not smth i have the habit of doing tbh, especially when most shippers just spend their time reading fanfiction. for shows and etc, its kinda weird for me the concept of going off canon and actually invest time in stuff written by fans idk..

I used to be SUPER into shipping when I was between the ages of 13 and 14 or 15, haha. I was intense about it. Nowadays, there are a handful of ships I like (Papyrus with Mettaton (Undertale), or Xefros with Jude (Hiveswap), or Natsuki with Sayori (Doki Doki Literature Club) ) but I don't take it all that seriously.

I'm fine with shippers as long as they aren't shipping gross ships, like really immoral relationship dynamics (age gap, related, one of them mistreats the other) or when people think it's somehow not the most creepy thing in the world to ship real life people.

Yeah, especially those IRL shippers that write gross fanfiction or draw them having woo hoo or stuff. Like respect their privacy and just because you think they should be a gay couple doesn't mean they are IRL or whatever. Some people are just too much

I ship fictional characters, but I'm very picky. I've denounced a lot of ships because I considered them toxic (for example, PinkBerry, which is Chloe x Brooke, from Be More Chill. Brooke is WAY better with Christine ok). I don't like minor/over-age relationships (i.e. one lover is 15 while the other is 23), I don't like incest (i.e. Wincest from Supernatural), or anything like that.

I don't like shipping IRL people. I've been shipped with friends before (men, usually, and I'm lesbian) and it makes me feel incredibly uncomfortable, and I wouldn't want to wish that on another person.

if its abusive/toxic in anyway then i think you should put a warning on the picture or a !!hey this might offend you!! before mentioning it on sites like this. i mean, i don't personally support people liking/posting whatever toxic ships, but they're gonna do what they want anyways, y'know?

I used to be really big into shipping, and honestly there are still ships I really like. But these days I try to stay out of ship conversations bc people can really get nasty if you ship a pair they don't like. Ship wars even chased me out of fandoms in the past bc of how toxic people get.

Also there's shipping real people, or shipping kid characters with adult characters, and that stuff really squicks me out. Like, don't do that.

My next door neighbour went on a cruise ship the other week, he got hill and had to be taken to a hospital in portugal where no-one speaks his language. Haven't seen him since so that's put me off shipping
