I wanna play them both but I?m kinda broke at the moment rn, so I just wanna buy one. which one would you guys recommend? it?s kinds weird playing older games because New Leaf makes the older games? quality look like ****

I didn't enjoy City Folk I disliked the music and it just didn't feel right for me. If you have a Wii you might as well just get the original Animal Crossing for the GameCube and play it on your Wii. That is by far the best AC game in my opinion. I have heard A LOT of good things about Wild World when it comes to their dialogue and interactions with villagers. I've never played Wild World though. It's also portable if you're like me and take your console with you everywhere you go.

Wild World is cute imo and it's not that different from ACNL as a whole, but since it's older it's a hassle to do things that are super easy in ACNL like sell things, donate things to the library, etc. I do like the look of it a lot though, it's really charming.

City Folk vs Wild World is like comparing a vanilla game to the same one with all the expansion packs. Once you play the complete version, the vanilla just feels empty. City Folk is very similar to Wild World but is superior in almost every way. Also in Wild World you need to have a friend visit your town to unlock Nookingtons. If you don't know anyone else who plays the game, you're stuck with Nookway forever.

My ranking for the main series:
New Leaf > Gamecube > City Folk > Wild World

they shut down the WiFi for DS and WII in 2014, so you can’t upgrade Nookway in any way which is a big con about wild world

I got into Wild World again last year but I stopped playing because every two or three days a villager would be in boxes during the afternoon with no surefire way to get them to stay. It was stressful. I forget how the City Folk system worked but I don’t remember it being as stressful.

Oh my gosh! I didn't even think about this, now I'm upset that I reset my game.

Back in Wild World days I didn't have internet (I lived in an internet dead zone), but I got the final upgrade by having my neighbor visit. I'm assuming you can still have people nearby come to your town if you know somebody who has the game (or you have two copies)?

[Nevermind, a person above said this]

But I absolutely agree that you should get the GameCube game. It is very good and a bit different from all of the other games. I don't really see the point in playing Wild World or City Folk after New Leaf came out because New Leaf is just an upgraded version of those. If you want something different, try out the first game for the GameCube

I never had Wifi, and only ever went to my sons town.

The good old days.

I stongly think you should buy City Folk. It is basically an improved version of Wild World. It has better graphics, better features, and is just overall superior.

update: I bought city folk a day ago! I will get the GameCube one next month :) ty y’all for your suggestions!

I agree with absolutely everything said in this.
It kind of reminds me of the Sims games. The vanilla game is so hard to go back to once you've played good expansion packs, or a singular expansion pack even.

I would say City Folk since it's 20 bucks compared to 40 bucks for wild world. I also hear d that wild world was missing a lot of things that the original and future titles had. Although I've never played either so I could be way off.
