Should I keep this map?

Heck no. Re-Tail is all the way at the top.
I personally like the tree and town hall as close to the top as possible and together.
Also, there is only one pond. Eh...

The long river and the skinny lower half makes the town feel a lot smaller, or at least it did for me.
My original town had a river like that.

I have the same river layout (albeit mirrored), and yeah, it is fairly restrictive in terms of what can fit. The vertical strip to the left, in particular, is a little bit hard to work with.

Though I can't help but admire how silky smooth the edges of the river look.

Yeah, I reaaaaally like that about my river, the look of it is just better... Now I'm really getting second thoughts about my map though. I know that space is something I really do need and I'll freak out in the course of a few weeks and will probably go on a resetting binge if I think about your comments more and more.

That's pretty cool. I'd take it you got the fruit you want. Re-Tail might seem like it's in a bad spot, but look at it this way--sell your stuff then youve got a short walk to Main St. to have your fossils or whatever donated.
