I will be moving the rocks in front of my current version with waterfalls around and hybrid flowers and butterfly models, but if you visit my dream address, I am fairly certain it shows my original decoration of it. lol, if you're interested, let me know!
A couple pics of my plaza -- it's pretty much surrounded by small cliffs, with a path leading to the campsite directly behind it. There's two sets of stairs right in a row leading up over the cliff in the front from my airport.
The downside is that it can be hard to take pictures of the villagers when they're in the plaza since the camera doesn't let you zoom past the cliffs / trees in front, but other than that I'm pretty fond of it!

Mine is right on top of the airport. You can see the tips rocks leading to the airport pier along the bottom border of this picture.

This area of my island in general is very open and minimally decorated. I probably took my cues from City Folk here. Even got bamboo speakers playing Animal City behind those trees on the bottom, where there's supposed to be like a small park area

I'm not so sure how clear it is in these screenshots, but there are three entrances to my plaza. I really just wanted it to be a convenient "center of everything"--pretty much everything important can be accessed through the plaza!
Mine is just a simple grid layout.

I've always struggled with the plaza area. I usually change up the decorations now and then but my "constant" so far are these two cliffs in front of the plaza on either sides, with a little walk way or decoration space in between. The town hall building kind of looks like a school to me, so I put a tiny soccer field in front of it. Before I've also made it into a bike parking zone.
I have two residential zones to the right and left of the plaza, so this area definitely gets the most foot traffic. I kinda like it that way!

I remembered about this thread later a night, so forgive me for the night shot of my plaza. But, I have mine set up like this! It is surrounded by a brick fence and hedges around the sides. I'm planning on changing out the flowers seasonally.
Right in front of this is my "event square" which is a fenced-in area that will feature seasonal decorations.
And that is basically what I've done around my plaza. I've turned it into the main part of town for my island. My community pumpkin patch is also really close to here along with a playground and a very small neighborhood with my house and Sherb's house.

Can't wait for november for tarantulas to come back so I can finally get some models to use.

OMG! Your comment makes me so happy @johnwick! I'm glad you like my plaza. It makes me feel good to see that you found something that probably made you smile. I do love the scorpion models! That could just be me loving zodiac things and being a scorpio, but I was debating about getting at least one more to put somewhere.

I have a scorpion model near my museum (plus heaps of other things). I've been waiting for tarantulas to put one on the other side.
The scorpion is the nicest model I've seen so far. ^_^
