Since its an island what if they made Hurricanes a feature?

I don't know if I would like the idea.

It would be neat if you got warning of it happening and could prepare against it, maybe design your island around that fact hurricanes can happen to basically negate them, but that sounds like it should be another game entirely. Some sort of typical survival game.

Animal Crossing is way too chill to have natural disasters ruining everything. People would understandably lose their **** when they turn the game on to find their houses are destroyed and Marshal is stuck in a tree.

Why’s everyone being such snowflakes? Pok?mon literally has moves called earthquake and hurricane

Well, looks like Pokemon is a Nazi.

*sarcasm*

They have typhoons and such in Harvest Moon games. I wouldn't mind it, but I wouldn't want to be stuck inside the whole time. We have hurricanes where I'm from and they're pretty boring. I wouldn't want to risk getting stuck in one real life, booting my game up, and getting stuck in one there too.

I completely forgot this happens in Rune Factory 4, too. If you don't prepare for it, all of your crops are gone and you basically can't do jack other than going back to sleep to foward time to the next day. It's rather annoying and I prefer if they didn't have it, but it's not a deal breaker for me either, I still love Rune Factory, despite that one little bump.

That being said, I think it would be odd to add Hurricanes to Animal Crossing, but who knows, maybe they can make it fun somehow (in the sense of walking in the middle of a strong storm, watching trees sway violently, strong waves in the waters, seeing more rain than usual with some thunder, obviously not making it as brutal as the real thing and kill half of your villagers or whatnot because it's still a game mostly aimed at for kids, but it's nice to be able to do things in games you otherwise can't do in real life because of danger. That's what games are all about, in my opinion.)

I wouldn?t want the weather to be so bad that it destroys towns but heavy winds and rain does sound cool ..not to make light of hurricanes (which I?ve experienced many of in my life (no where nearly as bad as the stuff you see on tv))

The players here don't want hurricanes because it doesn't really fit in with the spirit of Animal Crossing and not because they think it's politically incorrect. Also,Pokemon and Animal Crossing are two very different games.Titles like "hurricane" and "earthquake" seem appropriate for Pokemon but not so much for Animal Crossing.I wouldn't mind seeing heavy thunderstorms with stronger winds in the game but having a full on hurricane is too much.

Might end up destroying everything we've bought/built, so no thanks. :p

well I was actually about to say, would be cool if we had thunderstorms in game, and if lightning could strike trees and cause them to fall down... (kinda like in Stardew Valley) :') but some people would definitely hate that...

BUT!! Since the game is based on life on an island, would be cool if we could experience some extreme tropical weather in game! I already like the fact they're adding in "wind" to the game lol, like we never thought of that before. But it could blow some branches off of trees making it easier to pick up wood, etc...

Pokemon taking place in a different world where everything is a bit more "brutal" compared to Animal
Crossing, which is more known for being a cosy and friendly game. Besides, you can't really compare
those moves with the actual thing. I think most people just doesn't want to deal with something that
could destroy their process. After all, I have no problem with stormy weather as long as it's just wind
and rain that doesn't smash your houses, tress and anything else into pieces.

It's because of the way the game is played. AC is a game based on real time. In Harvest Moon, you can sleep through a hurricane day and move on to the next day. In Pokemon, you can avoid moves like that. In Animal Crossing, you wouldn't be able to avoid it because you can't control it, and unlike Harvest Moon, you would just be able to ignore it without waiting hours to several days in real life time. Nobody wants that.

As I've said before, I'd like to see a form of severe storms with strong winds that could blow you around a bit if you stand still and villagers telling you to be careful/go inside, but since that would make light of the actual severity of storms, I don't think Nintendo would want to do something like that and call it a hurricane/typhoon/etc.
