So frustrated with Nintendo

Well the drift is happening again... recalibration worked for like 2 days and now it’s doing it all over again

Really get in there and clean the crap out of it and then recalibrate again.

Buddy of mine I talk to on another msg board works for Nintendo in a warehouse. They don't repair the joycons but they mail them back out to people and he said that the repair center might be the last thing Nintendo re-opens after the pandemic slows down.

My brand new New Horizons switch has been acting up too. I've been having slight drift and disconnection issues in the left joy-con since the day I unboxed it. I've tried re-syncing and updating them to no avail (so far at least, I'll keep on trying). I'm floored issues cropped up so quickly when my old switch took around 1~2 years for the drift to begin.

yes, my drift is awful...

i ended up buying a pro wireless controller. no issues so far!

There are videos online where you could try to repair it yourself, an easy fix I know of is if you have like a bottle of compressed air and if you try spraying it underneath the joy con with the drift and apparently that can help fix it.

I don’t get how the joy cons are still being built terribly, even with all of the complaints and known facts that they drift due to poor builds. I know that they do free repairs in the NA region, but with that on hold, it’s not very helpful right now.

If it’s within your budget, I’d recommend buying a pro controller too. They’re built much better in comparison.

I tried the air compressor way and that sort of fixed it. Came back rather bad a day later. Going to try the alcohol/qtip method this weekend.

Software updating the joycon and calibrating didn't do much.

They're poorly made but cost $100 (CAD). That's like being punched in the face and having us smile anyway.

Same. I bought my Switch a while back for BOTW, never got around to playing much, and then with quarantine I got Animal Crossing and started playing it. About 10 hours total into my Switch my drift became bad enough to interfere, and now it makes it often unusable.

Despite them being "older" they should be like new, since I barely used them, never took my Switch anywhere (left it docked) and they were in a cool/dry area. Never dropped, no water damage, nothing. Not even dirty. And yet, the left stick is very very defective to the point where I quit playing because it's just not working. :/ I calibrate often and they're up to date.

It all could just be a cash grab so they can make more money by people needing to replace it. Like how apple makes bad cords, earphones, etc knowing people will need to replace them often. I only hope they address the issue before the software becomes outdated making joycons hard to find...
