According to this Nintendo of America Tweet PAX East is getting a demo for Animal Crossing New Horizons.

So, speculation and question time! Do you think they might drop a surprise demo on the eShop? Do you think this game would demo well? Do you think the demo might just be the tutorial?

If they released a demo that was the tutorial and let you carry over that 30 minute or so save file to the main game, would you play it? Would you use it to reset for your perfect starter island?

1. No, I don't think we'll get a demo, though I do believe it'd demo wonderfully (at least the first 30-minute tutorial).
2. Yes, of course, and I think that's a great idea. And no, I wouldn't restart for a perfect starter island. I will take whatever the game gives me, as I'm not one to chance fate.

I hope there isn't a demo for the general public-- it would be the same as the mystery dungeon demo they released. I'd be sad it ended and only make the wait harder.

1. Maybe. 80% they won't.
2. I'm not sure...they would have to strongly control the gameplay to not spoil too much
3. No, because that would spoil tons of the experience. I think it will be the 10 minutes after the tutorial.
4. Yes I would, depending on the spoilers

I don’t think I’d play a demo if they release one. I’d rather have the experience of starting my game when I can actually play as much as I want.

I don't think they'll release a demo on the eShop, but I would love if they did--I'd spend the next month casually resetting to get the perfect island and starter villagers so that they'd be ready to go at the full launch. Instead I'll probably just be torn between resetting for perfection and taking "good enough" so that I can start playing ASAP...

I don't know if I could stop myself from playing a demo, haha.

I'm not sure we will get one on the eshop though. I think the day to day gameplay is pretty hard to demo in just a few minutes.

I would have enjoyed replaying a demo until the game came out (not like I have a switch yet anyway, lol.) But now that I know there will be a demo I'm probably going to avoid any spoilers, I kind of want to enjoy it myself if that makes sense lol.

I will definitely be restarting for that perfect started island. I kind of already have my eyes set on a map, and would love that to be my starter c:

I can't imagine them casually releasing an e-shop demo either. But, at the same time, there were quite a few comments on twitter about if it had a demo, that would help people decide if they wanted to play it or not. The first taste is free idea.

I have no idea how I would feel about it personally. I would certainly play through it once, but I don't know if I would bother with resetting for my fruit or anything. Even if I did play it and they let you transfer to the whole game, I'm not sure I would actually do that and just play it again! :p

It is interesting to think about though.

Animal Crossing is a series that doesn't benefit from a demo. The "demo" at PAX is merely a showcase -- a display of what you'll be doing. It works well in this scenario, but a downloadable demo? It just won't work.

Yeah, I think New Horizons especially would benefit from a demo, more so than the other games. They could let players see how powerful terraforming is with customizing their town. Explore how seamless placing furniture down around town is. Check out the new graphics, animations, and so on.

And, either way, I know I'll be glued to YouTube watching each recording of the demo to see if I spot anything new, lol.

I doubt the demo will get an eShop release, and I assume it'll be a shorter version of what reviewers got to showcase the crafting system. Basically, here's a recipe or two, now go out and collect the items and then craft it.

If you compare it to the Pok?mon games, at least the last two (Let's Go! and Sword/Shield) got con demos where you could play for 10-15 min. Neither of these demos were released outside of cons, and they were kept shorter to keep people from having to wait too long to play them. It also honestly makes sense not to release them outside of cons - if they did, why would you go wait in line to try it when you could try the game from at home? Although this probably makes more sense in the context of GameCity here, which is small but free, and not a con you have to pay to get into.

However, they'll still be interesting since it seems like there was a partial embargo on footage and pictures of the demo reviewers got, so if the con demo is in anyway similar, this'll be our first look at it.

I doubt we would get a demo to the eShop, but that would be amazing! It would help hold me over till the game actually released!

I am so jealous I wont be playing the demo. No I doubt there will be an eshop demo.I wish though.

The demo is an incentive to get people to show up to PAXEast. Same as people getting to try "demos" at E3. There won't be an eshop demo sadly. They have 1 maybe 2 Nintendo Switches with a promotional copy of the game for attendees to try at their booth.

I really doubt they'll do a demo but I think it would be a good idea to give you like a town that's already fairly developed so you can play around. The demo size would be flippin' huge though
