Spectre in the Study [SOLUTION POSTED]

clues are never not viewable anymore. you can either explore the room over again or you can scroll up through your prompt/code list that you've already gone through.

if you really want to restart I suggest using a different browser.
I actually used Kilza's suggestion of trying the game in incognito mode and was able to retrace my steps. I was able to beat the game by "starting over". I had tried using "look around" many times but it was not a solution to the problem I was having. Also, whenever I quit the game and went back in my previous progress was not there to scroll through so that wasn't an option for my problem. To solve my situation I needed to retrace my steps to see if I had missed doing an action that could not be done again at the point where I was at in the game. I was only able to resolve the issue by going back to step one. Thank you for the suggestions though!

I've just spent an hour and half doing this and is has been so entertaining! I tried every possible prompt just to make it last longer and be sure that I wasn't missing anything. Thanks to this I'm gonna get my wispy egg!

New patch with some bug fixes (or attempts at them -- it seems like it should work from what I can tell.) I've also added a restart command!

Patch v1.0.2 (10/29/2021 @ 8:30PM EDT)
  • Tried to fix the bug where the text log would scroll up constantly
  • Tried to fix the bug where the game wouldn't register any commands including "look around"
  • Added a "restart" command that will clear all progress so you can start anew!
  • Added a bit of text under the ". . . NOW PLAYING" message to describe it further
Hopefully I didn't break anything while fixing things -- I tested them out quite a bit but only time will tell.

Even though I've finished the game I want to thank you for continuing to make improvements & add patches. I know how busy you are so it means so much that you're listening to our issues and trying to solve them. While playing I got myself stuck in a situation where I needed to "restart" by playing the game in incognito mode. "Restarting" helped me to be able to retrace my steps and figure out what I'd missed. Seeing that you added the "restart" command made me so happy. Thank you again for all your hard work on this event!

This was really funny, fun and enjoyable! Took me a while to finish, but it was worth it! :D I love text adventures, so I hope they'll be in future events :) Thank you Mistreil!

Well, I still haven't manage to solve the audio part despite hearing the audio well (how on earth does it relate to the letters!?). I have tried many, many different things to no avail. I'm happy to have found half of the code + the gold coin code though. It's a very fun game though, never played text games before. Thank you for designing and patching this game, it's been a unique experience.

The song in the audio and the ". . . NOW PLAYING" text both refer to what the audio is (so the puzzle can be solved using only just the audio, just the text, or both!)

you can't tell me how to write mistreil
I can tell you how to write "Mistreil", since that's my name 😏

I Understand that perfectly well but I haven't been successful at solving the puzzle/finding the song name using either. At this point, thats on me for not catching on to whatever it is.

THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN! especially to do on halloween! i did it in the daylight and somehow still managed to freak myself out haha, makes me wanna play more text based games, i had so much fun, thanks for all the hard work! some of the prompts were hilarious too

Honestly, I got kind of scared when I saw in the main post about this event on the bulletin board that there's going to be puzzle/game, because I feel like I always miss the point, BUT this game was so much fun, when I finished it I felt so proud of myself, it was truly a magical experience, even tho it was scary at times - at some parts I literally had to look around my room, because I felt uneasy, but it did add a great touch to it!! 👻

Thank you Mistreil, incredible work here!! <3

I meant to post something after playing this but just wanted to say I adooooored this game, the inherent nostalgia of text games and the flavour text (heh) were so good! (Not to mention, the fast response to accessibility concerns and bugs have been amazing!)
Thank you Mistreil, would be really excited for more of this in future 💕💕💕
