I have been toying with the Splatoon game for a number of days now (review purposes). I wasn't really looking forward to play that game, but the multiplayer experience is very satisfying. This is on par with Mario Kart 8.

The most exciting things for me are:
-You can customize your Inkling at any time, including gender. So if you're like me and don't know which one to use, you aren't locked!
-You can't choose an ink color, but you can choose "favorite" colors, and will be the only ones you use. Expect me to use exclusively blue and green, maybe purple.

That customization tip is great to hear! I tried the demo for a few minutes and was hoping I could customize more.

I've never been big on shooter games, but the simplicity of Splatoon really has me interested.

They have in-store events at some gamestop stores I think.
Where does he say you can choose favorite colors? I know there is a color lock for colorblind people to lock a certain ink color, but I don't remember hearing about favorite colors.

I think that's what they mean. The colour lock feature is that favourite colour feature.
I hope that people locking to a certain color only effects their character/what they see. It would be annoying in multiplayer if you were constantly the same color because one guy on your team has locked to blue when I want a nice variety.

Excited for the last demo next week! I had so much fun with the first ones and this time they've chosen a pretty widely-accessible time frame, I think.
Also, in regards to what I'm hoping for in the game... I hope they'll be adding different/alternate "hairstyles" at some point. There's a lot of fun things they could do with that tentacle hair. XD Maybe that might be something they'll include with later updates (perhaps maybe the August one, even). I just think it would be cool to diversify the characters even further than just the change in wardrobe.
...I won't be completely heartbroken if it doesn't happen, though. The squid characters have really fun and cute designs as is.
