Super fun! You can lose your step a bit if you don't practice for a while, but you soon enough get the hang of it again. I'd say definitely give motion controls a chance, too. They can be weird to get used to the first time around, but I think they're very much worth learning.
The reason I bring up the lost practice is because I finally played again today after playing Xenoblade Chronicles X all week and boy, did my first couple of matches not go well.
I also had the misfortune of playing with someone who was rather arrogant today. This was part of a private match set among people watching a stream, and this person was "sarcastic" as an excuse for being rude, constantly bragging, and being mean to newer players of the game in general. I mean, yeah, I shot them down pretty hard myself as far as gameplay goes, but I was still nice to them, and they were still nice to me. With this guy, it felt personal, though.
Now, I don't make a point of hunting people down unless they're near me and that has me worried (with the exception of snipers, who always have me worried), but every time that guy was nearby, or came after me himself, I was especially satisfied. It's fun showing up someone who tries to rub how good they are in people's faces, rather than being a good sport.
