I’m mainly concerned that with this structure (and the fact that you have to log in and verify the server time to activate the event), they’ll remove the events after the fact with the next update and prevent you from playing them. As someone who frequently has to backtrack in time to play some of my events, I’m worried that I’ll miss out on events that I otherwise would have enjoyed. In this particular instance, with the virus situation, I’m now not going to be able to start my physical copy for a while, likely until after Bunny Day has wrapped up. There’s no guarantee that there will be the same event next year, and I likely some be able to go back and play it.
I guess this update style event situation is common for games these days, and it’s designed to keep the audience engaged over time, but I find it adds a lot of stress. Often, once I miss some sort of event and get locked out of certain items, it kills my desire to continue playing, and I quit for good. I really don’t want that to happen with AC, but if the series is headed for mobile-style limited-time events, I’m not sure I’ll be interested in sticking with it. There’s a reason why I avoid most games with this approach, and why my interest in certain franchises has declined of late in response.
Hopefully it won’t be that bad, and everything will turn out fine. But this week seems to have taken my hype for this game and attempted to crush it repeatedly, and I’m getting frustrated. The last direct looked so good, too.
