SSBB hacks effecting ACFC?

So when I went online to play random people I picked King Deex3 and when the game started It switched my player into Captain Falcon! I'm sure it's because someone used Homebrew (or whatever method people use to cheat or mess up other peoples' games).

My question is: If someone tampers with Brawl and also has a ACCCF hack in effect on his Wii, would it effect mine as well? Or does it only effect the game that you are playing with the hacker at the moment?

How would I mess up picking my character? I played a King Deex3 for 60 seconds in the pre arena. And what are the odds my character and all the others are CF when I know for sure I didn't pick him?

Hacking doesn't effect anyone but the person itself
so you have nothing to worry but the other person does
