Start a new island now or wait for the update?

I'd probably wait until I knew exactly what is going to be in the update and the firm date of the drop.

Yeah, I'd maybe wait to see what exactly is coming asides from Brewster. That way you have a good idea on what to expect and how to set up your island. Though, you always could start up your new island and get that horrible tutorial out of the way? Unless you want to wait to pick out a map?

Wait.

They might have new features for people that want to move to a new island.

If you're uncertain about it then wait. I feel like if you don't start right away you might not be prepared in time for the update.

On the other hand if you do feel good about it then it might be fun to work towards for the next month or so

I'm having the same problem. I actually very recently changed my island completely to a city theme...which I'm already bored of and miss the trees, especially this time of year. I won't reset cos I wouldn't want to lose my miles, items, catalogue and DIY's, but I do plan on flattening and redoing and I'll do it quicker this time as I'm no longer terrified to TT haha. But it's just having the guts to plough into it now as I don't want Brewster coming back to a building site (whatever would he think?)

You need to have your museum fully upgraded with the Art gallery in order to get The Roost by the time it comes out.
Oh no, for real? I thought that was a joke. Damn, I better TT a lot now then.

At first I was of the mind-set that you might as well wait, but after seeing the other responses, I'm more inclined to think you should start now, so that you can actually play the update when it drops. From my experience, I'm stuck at not being able to terraform my second island, because it's not at least 3 stars yet, because I have stuff all over since it's going to be a catalog island. 😔

It would suck if you waited and then couldn't end up breezing through the intro stuff (assuming you time travel, if not no biggie) and then couldn't play the update because you hadn't completed intro stuff yet. Your island will update to that version anyway when it's released, so might as well get a head start! But most importantly, do what makes you happy!

Not fully donated. Just have the art gallery available, to open the second floor.

Also, no one knows this for sure, it's just an assumption until sometime in October when the direct drops, so you can take anything you see with a grain of salt if you didn't see it in the very short vid we got in the last direct.

Oh phew! Bad news for those who kept the tent or the early building to match their theme though.

Also I can remember in AC New Leaf you needed to have 50 donations to the museum in order for Blathers to inform you to build The Roost in your town (this was back when he had his own building). So I am not sure if they are going to go with the same requirement but I would play it safe and just donate more to the museum and make sure that its all upgraded, by the time it comes out.
