I haven't played for a little while (we all know how those AC bursts go...) but here's the late 3rd day! Not much commentary since it was a while ago but still. I'll try to play some more tomorrow. Thanks for reminding me guys!
(PS: Found an easier to handle screenshots so I'll be more inclined to post. If it wasn't obvious already I'm playing on an emulator however I realized recently that Fraps can just take the screens instead of print screen-->paste in paint-->crop out window border)
Hey look, it's raining in Animal Crossing! In this version there's something special when it rains... more on that later! For now though let's take look through my new mail.
Wooooo! Some of my fossils are back from the Fairway Musuem after being examined. See, I could be a good person and donate them to the Musuem... but I'm just going to sell them to Nook.

Isn't that what everyone does? ...right?
I had just finished my debt off in my last post. Well, here's my new debt to pay off. Damn you Tom Nook. Just kidding, I love Tom Nook. <3 He carried a fishing rod today! FINALLY. Time to make some good bells with fish.
There's no real context for this picture other than just because! It's the train station that was removed from Wild World and City Folk. Rumor has it that it's making a comeback for the 3DS game, at least I hope so. What did you do at the train station? It was basically the local version of the town gate.
Obviously the Gamecube didn't have online capabilties so you could visit other towns by swapping your friend's memory card into the second slot on the Gamecube. It's quite clever when you think about it. Unfortunately, Nintendo decided the town gate made more sense... why though I may never understand.
My coconut tree made it past the first day. Rejoice! Also, the Able's Sisters is visible in this screenshot. Enjoy it Jake.
I really liked how the villagers posted useful messages like this on the bulletin board. In the newer games I rarely bother to check the board. But stuff like this makes it worth checking!
Okay, here comes one of my favorite features of the original game: Balls! Yeah, that's right. Balls! There were these fun bouncy balls that would randomly spawn somewhere in the town. You can just push them around and play, but be careful not to push them into the river! Plus, sometimes villagers would ask for you to bring one to them. Some much needed variety to the usual errands.
I've prepared a short video to show them off. Please take the time to watch it. They better bring these back in the next version, think about all the possibilities for games to play online with them! AC soccer! Wouldn't that be great? Anyway, time for some fishing!
I feel like in this game it's a lot easier to make money fishing than in the newer versions. Why? The ocean of course! Sure, the ocean is still good in Wild World but they added more possible fish. In this version there's only 3 possible fish most of the time. Red Snapper, Sea Bass and Barred Knifejaw! And if it's raining, there's another special fish called the Coelacanth!
How much are they worth? LOADS O BELLS! Red Snapper is worth 3,000, Barred Knifejaw are worth 5,000 and the Coelacanth is worth a crazy 15,000 bells. That's why rain in Animal Crossing is AWESOME!
Of course, there's always Sea Bass to ruin your day. They're only worth 120 Bells. But still, the ocean is crazy good compared to the other games. The squid, horse mackarel, octopus and more make it harder to make the big bells. Although, in the summer the sharks and other big fish make up for it. That's only in the summer though!
So what did some casual ocean fishing get me? Around 60,000 Bells! Let's put that to use towards my new debt payment. Oh and to celebrate, have a picture of my newly expanded house. WITH A TELEVISION! I'm in the future man.
