Pokémon Stop arguing about this

not even gonna lie I hate what they did to Lilligant lol, she looks like she's trying too hard to be a Roserade when she was beautiful just as she was 😞

I personally have kinda given up on newer Pokemon games as well, but I'm hoping to try out this one, or at least Shield, so I can shiny hunt the newer Pokemon. that's my favorite thing to do in these games so as long as most of my favorite shinies are still in the game then I'm willing to try it.

personally I just stick with the older games, especially Omega Ruby (my favorite game in the series). would love to try BW at some point, if I can ever get a copy for a decent price. if the new games aren't satisfactory for you then I would suggest going back and replaying the older games :)
I have been replaying X and Moon and I like them even if I know others have controversy with them! I have been loving them. and seriously? Like your right about her trying to be roserade! Like she is LITERALLY IN THE GAME. GET ROSERADE IF YOU WANT HER. Only half of my favorite Pokemon made it into the game and my favorite out of the ones that made it in looks like THIS??? NINTENDO PLEASE ✋

I'm not here to "white knight" just here as a devil's advocate. I've been playing Legends and am currently Third Star rank. There are many game mechanics in this game that I would for GameFreak to implement in future gens, such as the Linking Cable. The game is not as bad as haters make it out to be and its certainly not as good as defenders make it out to be. Its GameFreak's first attempt to break its old formula, so expect it to not be perfect. For those that are dissatsified with the newer games: what exactly do you want in a Pokémon game? I'm sure GF would love to figure that out as well and at least they're trying to make something new.

I love the games I just wish that they would stop making new Pokies if they cannot keep up with the old ones. Like the fact that everyone has a favorite and they cannot add them all in baffles me. Almost all the graphics look very uggo and not much design thought into them. The games are too easy but that seems like its been fixed in Arceus. I think Arceus is a big step into the right direction but there is alot more they need to improve. When I saw that Liligant looks like not too good and that Bounsweet isnt even in this game I did not want it but thats just me! <3 I hope you are having tons of fun with it so far though!!

It's not about what I want. It's about people voting with their wallets. If I don't buy the game, Game Freak won't shed a tear. I personally just wish they would get rid of all the dimensional/time travel bs. I'd probably like the game if there weren't regional variants and it was in a modern setting. Like I said, I wasn't accusing you of whiteknighting, or anyone else on this forum, moreso rl folks I know. I'm personally very upset that they screwed up Goodra, my favorite Pokémon, and I'm just not into time traveling or any of that as a whole. I understand I was heated yesterday, but I feel as if my opinions are valid and people shouldn't just brush them off as "peak comedy." People here can't take opinions that they don't like. Seriously.

I mean, if you wanted them to get rid of time travel "BS", coincidentally you've probably have to time travel back to 2000 when Gold and Silver came out. Celebi is literally the Time Travel Pokemon.

It's always been in the series. Time travel is basically the "original sin" of the series and if you don't like it, Pokemon may not have ever been the series for you.

I'm inclined to agree on some of the forms because, yeah, some of them are pretty questionable.

I'm glad you're trying new games, nothing will be exactly like pokemon, but playing thru new stories and different gameplays is refreshing. There are lots of RPGs out there that are better than pokemon in some aspects, I hope you find one your liking ^^ Finding out new series was what mostly made me stop being depended on pokemon, I miss it at times, but I still got all my old games if I want to play (now my problem is that I dont have enough money to buy all the games I want lol before it was just pokemon n a few others, now i like lots of series compared to before)

Haven't played arceus yet (and probably wont unless I find it for like $30, though I'm curious about it), but I'm on the same boat. I loved sun/moon, but everything that came after wasnt worth that $60 price mark. And considering how much crunch they force their workers onto, it made me stop supporting them, SUMO were the last games I bought. Until they hire more people or space out their main games releases I dont think I will be getting another game anytime soon.
Oh, and the whole pokemon bank/home stuff.... I'm not even mad at the pokedex cut (with almost 1k monsters, it was destined to happen someday), but the way they advertised AND made you pay with the promise that you would keep your pokemon for years just to turn around and break that promise at the very next game was a terrible move.
The only ones I'm still buying are the mystery dungeon ones since I really enjoy their story, haven't disappoint me yet (they fell a bit with Gates, but they recovered after) and are developed by another company (money still goes to GF, but at least the workers are different)

I love the games I just wish that they would stop making new Pokies if they cannot (...)
Same, lots of new pokemon are very cool, but there are also lots that are terrible. Sadly they wont stop making new ones because ''new creatures = new merch = more money'', along with all the hype everytime they reveal a new pokemon, it's free advertising.
Also I saw your post about lilligant 😭 She's one of my top favorite pokemon too, I hate what they did to her... but at least it's just for one game.

“historical accuracy” in pokémon games? the series is a fantasy world loosely based on certain regions. there is no real history in these series, it’s literally all made up. not sure what accuracy you were looking for

personally i find this game to be the most fun i’ve had since BW2. since it’s inception, most main series titles have followed the same formula of beat 8 gyms, fight the legendary mascot, and then beat the champion. sun and moon tried to switch things up a little bit by having no gyms or real champion (which i like). legends arceus really does something new while maintaining the same pokémon charm. this is the start of a new era for pokémon games and i hope they continue it. this game is super enjoyable imo. but obviously we can have different opinions which is fine

if you make an opinion and post it on a forum, you will receive differing opinions. if you don’t like having your original thoughts challenged, maybe don’t post in a forum and look to start a blog instead

I'm not sure what era the game's supposed to be based off of, but they made a huge deal to say that the game takes place in the past, certainly pre-industrial Japan. However, various aspects of the game and ads show evidence of modern cameras/smartphones, and so much of the fashion choices in the game can certainly be considered modern. I know that it's a small gripe, but I'm someone studying ancient history as a hopeful profession, so it drives me crazy.
you have to consider that our real world and the pokémon world vastly differ in regards to technological innovation. in the real world, pokémon don’t exist, so our technology evolved slowly solely through human creativity. the existence of pokémon allows access to elements and forms of labor that took us centuries to develop. example: electric pokémon allowing them to utilize electricity, or strong pokémon possible changing the geography through their moves. cameras could be possible given how quickly technology could develop in their world

that being said, we don’t know how far in the past the game takes place in. could be a hundred years, could be centuries or more. historical accuracy is hardly something that could be properly judged in a fantasy world

Commenting on the historical inaccuracies thing.

I haven't played and don't really plan to. Like, if someone I know gets a copy I may mess with theirs out of curiosity.

Someone mentioned there were smart phones and things in this game? But the game is suppose to take place before the Kanto games. (Red Blue Green specifically). RBG takes place during Ash's lifetime. In the trailer of Legends of Arceus I saw that you can craft the pokeball that Professor Oak had as a kid that is made from berries. That can be referenced in Pokemon Forever. I know that it is a movie, and the movies and anime are technically separate from the games...but to me that seems odd. In Pokemon Forever it was mentioned how there wasn't much technology and notebooks were the common thing for notes and sketching pokemon encounters. I think even in the original Diamond Version you had a paper notebook that recorded your recent actions for when you logged back on even though that game timeline took place at the same time as GSC games. Either way, Legends of Arceus seems to take place before Prof Oak's time, I think. And Kanto is suppose to be the region that had the amazing technological break throughs in the pokemon world. I am curious if there will be a nod to Kanto's scientists and corporations in the game later dealing with technology or not since it is a way for fast travel. Not that I don't think fast travel shouldn't be in the game, of course it should considering the long stretches of space between towns, but maybe they should have made the device in a way that didn't look so man made unless it plays a role in the story or side background information for world building purposes. Like stuff about technology in the pokemon world.

I don't know if this is one of those things that people may be thinking back on when they say historical inaccuracies but that is something that sticks out to me. Not the reason I am not interested in the game though.

at the start of the game, the playable character comes from modern times (unknown exactly when) and is sent back in time to where the game takes place. the phone came with them and the natives comment about not knowing what that is. the most modern technology the natives have is a camera

Oh ok well that makes more sense. Do we know anything about who made the phone/where it came from? Its design makes me have flashbacks to the Rotom Dex. Like how Rotom basically possessed the machine and that is one reason on why it was designed the way it was.
I know the Arc Phone just has a map and fast travel and no dex.

we don’t know anything about who made the phone or really about the world the playable character comes from (they get amnesia). it’s not a rotom phone but rotom is in the game as a wild pokémon. the special features of the phone (the map mainly) came from when arceus upgraded the regular cell phone to have special features and appearance

the pokédex in this game is essentially a scrapbook

im so sorry you dont like the new game, and have chosen to leave pokemon. I totally respect your decision though and really admire you, since its something I don't think i could do with any nostalgic franchise.

Since you voiced your opinions on the game, I just wanted to say that personally I think they should have adopted the open world style seen in arceus a long time ago. In fact, since they introduced the legends game I don't want to go back to the style of the old games ever, UNLESS they release a "retro" style pixel game. That being said, I think their story writing could use some work in either style they choose to produce next, but I personally believe legends is a great base to build off of in terms of game style/mechanics in future pokemon games and I am excited to see what they do next. I almost stepped away from the games and lost hope after SW/SH, but legends really made me hop back on the pokemon bandwagon. its crazy that fans seem to be super split about this new direction for pokemon such as you and me are. But like I said I respect your decision just wanted to contribute to the discussion
