Sudden problem when saving-- Animal Crossing City Folk

I've had my City Folk game I guess since New Year's and suddenly now it's taking forever to save. I clicked save game, the screen went black, came back up with the usual saving screen (you know, 'Saving... Please do not touch RESET or the Power Button'), and it has been like that for a good thirty minutes. I had this problem before with my Game Cube version, but I think it was probably after about three years of having the system and after at least two years of owning the game. With my Game Cube version, I remember I just turned it off and suffered the wrath, so to speak, of Resetti, and I guess I could just do that with my Wii game now too, but I'd really rather not, if I don't have to. I already tried pushing every button on my WiiMote except the power button (it won't let me just go to the Wii Menu). I don't wanna lose the part of my game that I played today, but if that's what it takes, I'd rather deal with one day gone, than my whole town to be destroyed... =[ Does anyone have suggestions for me?

I don't think this has ever happened to me. But if I was in your situation, I would probably just reset it.
