is it just me or has the switch been more stingy about low battery = sleep mode recently? i feel like there used to be a solid 3-4 minutes after the "console is about to enter sleep mode" warning before it did, now it does RIGHT AWAY. today it did it AS the message appeared.

has anyone else experienced this? i've never had it enter sleep mode with no warning whatsoever before, but i have, as i said, noticed that it's happened a lot quicker than it used to.

and also, is there anything i can do to prevent this? i know battery-saving measures like screen brightness and dark mode, anything else?

hmm.. Ive never had this. I dont use my switch in handheld to often but I let it die the other day by accident and it gave me time to plug it in (my lazy butt really wanted to finish my decorations on NH). How old is your switch? Do you play in handheld often? Do you plug it in randomly or let it full charge?

I ask the last one due to battery shortage of consoles that Ive caused. Ive ruined batteries of a DS and a few phones due to randomly plunging it in and out quickly. Ex: Plugging something in at 20%, taking it off at 30%, then plugging it in again at 20% (and so on)

Edit: I never heard of the sudden sleep mode either, thats weird. If its keeps happening I would contact Nintendo or see if you can bring it in somewhere...

I'm guessing the switch's battery, like any other battery, has a lifespan. The longer you use it, the less efficient it will be. I feel like this has happened to me a bit too, I used to be able to have enough time to walk to a charger and plug it in but now sometimes it goes to sleep/low energy mode without the message even being shown...

I've had it show the final warning just as it shuts down several times. Might be something wrong with the battery life indicator. Mine can be a bit all over the place. It once dropped from 15% to 3% in just a minute. I've also have it do the opposite and "gain" a decent amount of battery life after being turned off. Iirc, many people had issues with the indicator in the early days of the Switch.

Or it could just be that the battery is getting bad.

Tbh I usually just keep it plugged in almost 100% of the time, so I don't typically run into the low battery message. I haven't had it shut off right as I'm getting the message tho, I would save I've had at least 1-2 minutes in recent times

This is the way to go. My battery has definitely gotten worse since I bought ACNH.

I don't have an issue like this, when the Switch says it's about to go into sleep mode due to low battery I always have a few minutes to find the charger and plug it in. In your case it may just be a sign of a battery that's going bad. Maybe talk to a Nintendo rep about it?

I don’t believe my switch has ever done this, I’m sorry you’ve been having these problems with yours
