Tablet Help

I hope you don't mind me inputting some of my opinion. I found that drawing on a small size is better because there isn't a large amount of space required to draw one line. Also, you should only move up to a larger size if you have a large monitor, but honestly it doesn't really make a difference. I actually change from a medium intuos 5 to a small, and much prefer it. Easier to carry around, less space required, and cheaper too. My screen is about 21 inches (diagonally) and it works just fine. I think one of my other screens is about 23? I don't notice any kinds of jump or skipping around when I draw. I say if you have a screen that is like 27 inches, a small tablet wouldn't be the best option.

Also for the difference between intuos and touch&eraser, the biggest difference I found is the pen. The intuos has a much more comfortable pen. I would say don't worry about the levels of pen sensitivity. If you want thin lines, just change the pen sensitivity to hard.
I don't mind at all! And thank you! That helps wonderfully! I'm use to moving my wrist very little, so it isn't a big deal for me.

Hmm, well if the pen does the job right I wouldn't have to worry. Thank you again!

--------

I think the small is best, the prices here are crazy. $250 to jump to a medium doesn't seem worth it to me.

I just purchased a Intuos for my daughter, and it should arrive today. Of course, I'm just now finding this thread. It's good to know that I *think* we made the right decision getting that one over the bamboo. Poor kid shattered her surface pro about a month ago....still working on funds to get her another one. Can anyone compare the surface pro to the intuos for drawing (pen sensitivity and whatnot)?

(Sorry if I'm hijacking a little, chibi - you can smack me if you want).

(sorry for hijacking too eep)
I found some reviews on clintiq vs surface pro and I think these two are pretty helpful:

http://www.parkablogs.com/picture/review-microsoft-surface-pro-3-artists-and-drawing

but I really don't think you can exactly compare a surface pro to an intuos -- first of all, one is a stand alone tablet, while the other is a computer itself ; and one does not allow you to draw directly on screen while the other does.
but being the annoying wacom worshipper that I am, I'd say to trust the company who specialises in producing equipment for drawing. xD;;
It'll take a while to get used to the eye-hand coordination since you're not longer drawing directly on the screen, but after you get used to it it'll be alright! You might even prefer not drawing directly on the screen later on (like I did lmaooo)

Thank you so much for both your insight and those articles (the second one answered a lot of questions that we had). I'll be sure and report back when we receive the wacom, but I'm pretty sure we're gonna love it. <3

With a cintiq in general, considering the price of it, I don't recommend it unless you're serious about drawing. Then again, the surface pro isn't cheap either. Both run Windows 8, though the cinqiq Companion Hybrid runs Android 4.2, Jellybean.

I mean, if you have money to burn, why not? But, if you're just a casual drawer, it's not really smart to buy a cintiq. That's just my 2 cents. I know UtopiaJ has a cintiq, so you could ask her thoughts about it as well. Since she actually has one, she can give you some insight.

EDIT: Only just realized there's a BUNCH of different cintiqs, not just the companion and companion hybrid... Only the companion and companion 2 run Windows 8, the others, besides the hybrid, are literally straight up tablets only. As in, you can't use them for anything else.

But, since these all have built in monitors, obviously they're gonna cost more than the Intuos and Intuos Pro models as you MUST have a computer to plug the tablet into. Unless I'm mistaken the Intuos pen sensitivity is 1024 levels, while the Intuos Pro and cintiq models have 2048 levels of sensitivity. For the general user, 1024 levels is plenty. Advanced users would benefit from the extra levels.

I agree with everything Pengu and Jint has said, and yes UtopiaJ has a Cintiqs!
