TBT! So, I have been told it's a forum exclusive currency. What's the use of it? Is it really worth it really?

Ok I get that some people use it to trade with for in game items. I see it as just adding another coin to my already full sack of different coins to pay with. More precisely it's like a gift card. Only usable here. So, if I see an item on another forum for trade. I can't use TBT on it. Unless I buy something here to use to buy the item on another forum. So ya, TBT seem rather useless to me.

Is there another use for them? I mean I guess I will trade what TBT I earn but when it comes to accepting trade for my items. I think I rather go with a universal currency. :D

Anyone want to help me understand it better? :D

You can also get things like collectibles or unsername changes or other cool things like that in the site store!

I think people like it because you can buy forum collectibles like the little icons that show up under your avatar plus other forum quirks. But it’s useless if you don’t care about that stuff

As someone who uses this forum and pretty much no other Animal Crossing forum, I appreciate my tbt. Many people out there prefer it for getting not just in game items, villagers, etc. but also things for other games, collectibles, commissioning art, and so on.

For me it is mostly the collectibles. I also have 18 seashells too.

I mean, I have no use for it but it's nice to come across someone who does value it and I can buy items with tbt than igb or nmt.

What other forums besides TBT is there?

Sometimes there are just items you are looking for, and the only way to purchase what you want is with TBT, because the seller is not offering to trade or sell in other currencies.

So TBT and Seashells? What are Seashells? How do you get those?

GameFAQ has a pretty decent sized forum for Animal Crossing. Bell Tree is more user friendly that is for sure.

I am not that clear about the use of seashells so someone can correct me. I am pretty sure somehow I earned them (not sure how) but they can be used to get forum items too. I think it was a feature to help newer users out to get started instead of using tbt? Something along those lines. I believe they are currently disabled but can be used again in the future.

I frequent this forum often and love to reply on threads. So I might as well make good use of it. I use it to buy materials and DIYs I'm missing.

That is all I think I will do. I don't plan to accept them for trades but use them for those wanting them. :D

Its only use is using it as another currency instead of nmt or igb and buying collectibes, name changes stuff like that on the forum. Personally I would rather have game items than some pictures on a website but thats just me

Oh I also forgot you can also trade tbt in exchange for millions of in game bells or for NMT. If you’re someone that likes to island hop or you chose you don’t want to bother with turnips that’s something you can do too. Everyone has a different way of playing and interests with the game and I enjoy it!

Oh, where do I trade them in for these?

That's what I do. I don't hoard bells and haven't really bothered with turnips ever since I fully paid Nook. So I usually just exchange my TBT for bells when I really need quick cash.

On the Nook's Cranny sub-forum as well. Some shops have varying rates. Some give you 2mil bells for 100 TBT, while others just 1mil. Others offer it cheap with 1 NMT per 1 TBT. You just need to look and compare prices before buying.

You can check the thread titled “Nooks Cranny” in the New Horizons section on the homepage and find a post for people looking to exchange.

Same here. I always have tbt to use so exchanges are probably what I use tbt for most.

Just had to ask to make sure. So ya, same thing I knew. You just use them for trade. Still, I will use them for trade. I plan to use this forum a lot. I like Bell Tree. If not for the tradeing (as I have not had much luck yet). For the other sections. I like to just have fun on forums now and then. Also so far Bell Tree has been a FAR more positive community then most other forums I have been to.

I don't spend TBT on collectibles or anything in the shop, but I do like to trade! The good news is, there are many buyers who do take TBT as currency. Alternatively, you could convert it into NMT through shops there - I've seen rates as low as 1 TBT: 1 NMT! You can then use that NMT in game or towards buying other items/villagers, whether on this site or another.

I think most buyers are taking TBT over anything else honestly. with the masses of duping and other exploits cropping up left and right it feels like the only safe currency. I'm not a collectibler but TBT is a great currency that I think is gonna remain in a good spot for a long time because of how stable it is!

also, you can technically buy crap like pokemon and stuff from other websites for tbt, but I don't lurk around in that area much so I couldn't tell you much else (I feel like I remember someone offering physical 3ds games for tbt a couple years ago now I think about it lol)

I think before nmt became such a prized commodity and there wasnt such a huge online presence surrounding animal crossing as a whole tbt was an excellent way for some people to buy their dreamies on the forums here. Back when I was playing new leaf TBT was really the only place other than some select tumblr blogs where I could obtain the villagers I wanted. Log on, participate in some threads and do some trades and voila: I had enough tbt to grab a villager or two.

For someone who never really was good at saving up IGB, I really appreciated tbt for what I could get with it.

Nowadays there are so many currencies and different sites it can be hard to deal with, but im still keeping an eye on my tbt just in case.
