So I found this Teavana container full of tea pieces (looks like potpourri) in the back of my cabinet. I was wondering if anyone knew how long the tea lasts in one of these containers or if there is a something I should look for to figure out if it's still good. I have a sudden craving for tea so I want to make it but I also don't want to die lol. Any ideas? :)

How does it smell? Is it still a strong enough whiff? Does it smell kind of stale since you last checked? I don't know if it can really go bad unless humidity caused it to mold or something, but it definitely can lose its flavour.

Please don't haunt me if I'm wrong. I don't mean to kill you. ;0;

I have tea from years ago and I still drink it. I just make sure the "leavee" look okay and smell okay before eating.

Thank you both! The leaves look and smell just fine, so I'm gonna give it a try! I kept reading different things, like one guy said he's had his for like 5 years and it's fine but others said as little as 6 months which seems kinda short to me. It looks like the worst that can happen is it just won't taste as strong. So we will see! :)

Yeah, I don't think it'll make you sick or anything, especially if it was kept in a container sealed.

This is kinda related but at my bf's house I found a container of dijon mustard in their fridge that expired in 2012 and they still eat it and haven't died. O_O; So if they can eat that, it seems like anything can be okay lmao. Some foods are okay expired, like chocolate when others like dairy are not good. I guess it's all about the state the food is in.

Haha wow that makes me feel better haha!! That's crazy though, kinda scary how long certain things can last for haha. Update on the tea... it was awful.. but idk if it's because I put too much in or because I didn't add sugar. I normally drink hot tea without sugar but this one was not so good lol. Oh well, I'll just grab some tea later today when I go to the store haha. XD
