Terrible Furniture?/Comprehensive List?

I was going for like a medieval/celtic forest theme. I wanted my town to tell a story. I was going to have an enchanted/spooky forest where I'd have a witch character live. For this, I would need dead trees...but APPARENTLY perfect fruits aren't a thing anymore, and thus, no more dead trees. I also needed the perfect fruit trees (albeit not dead) for the "good" part of the enchanted forest where I was going to have a fairy character live. I was then going to have a knight character. And then finally, I was going to have a royal character (a king, queen, princess, or whatever) who was going to live in a castle. Huge problems with all of this...For one, while yes, house exteriors are customizable in this one, the customization options suck compared to New Leaf. There's not really any themes, like the castle theme I would need to use for the royal person's house. Also there is a severe lack of furniture to fit the theme for any of the characters' houses. There are other little things here and there, like the lack of bushes, and the fact that the theming is ruined by the presence of the shops in the middle of the town (instead of hidden away like they were on Main Street in New Leaf) that just makes it impossible.

Unfortunately, I've settled for a generic Japanese-looking village theme. Not that unique, but I'm just working with what I've been given.

Alright! I'll be checking my Dm's

Ah that sounds so nice, I wish there were more items that you could use for that. Fingers crossed they add more stuff that could fit your original theme :( there are a few basic little things here and there that sort of remind me of that like the stone fence and some witchy furniture items but not really. I had totally forgotten about the lack of bushes, I hope Leif makes an appearance later on to sell those and more plant landscaping options but who knows..

They announced two days ago in the Direct Mini that he'd be coming back for an Earth day event, but they made it sound like he was going to be a one-time character just for that event. I don't think we'll get to keep him permanently, but we'll have to see about that... I'm not sure if bushes will be coming back anytime soon. I guess we'll be finding out soon if bushes are coming with this update. So disappointing that they couldn't be bothered to include them the first time...

...but still, the furniture in the game has been...less than optimal up to this point. The theory about it being overpriced so that it takes longer to buy since there is little variety, actually seems quite plausible. Ugh I just wish I could have confirmation of my favorite sets being in the game.

I love the new shell series, but I haven't seen any of my old favourite sets - regal, rococo, and alpine. It's possible that we're still all not far enough into the game yet to see more diverse items, maybe they only appear once we get Nook's Cranny upgraded or only through balloons? But at the same time, I feel like we would have heard about it.

I like the furniture in New Horizons, but I do wish there was more variety, more than just camping/woodsy items. I like the down to earth feel but I also want some crazy stuff, you know?

I did get a cute vanity yesterday, so there's that.

I hope so! I absolutely LOVE regal and rococo and would be so sad if they didn't make it into the game!

I agree that the selection is limited but with a little imagination we can make beautiful rooms!

My Rooms

Nice! You really have a talent for design. You took what they gave you and made it look nice. Wish I could do something like that, but it would still be next to impossible to go for the original themes I was wanting without some of the specific furniture pieces that seem to have been cut. :(

ugh yeah, i love some of the new stuff like the cute & shell sets but the lack of variety in this game so far is really grating... and i have the cranny upgraded and have TTed tons of days, so i doubt the theory that more diverse sets show up when you upgrade it is true. plus, without a good comprehensive database like moridb--though i know the website villagerdb is working on one--it's a bit impossible for me to know if stuff i wanted to use from NL is gone or not! for example, the volleyball is still an option, but i desperately want a volleyball net for my island and i don't know if i should just give up and use a soccer goal as a poor substitute. i also really, really wanted to just go all in on the island theme and have a lot of mermaid furniture and stuff themed around that but i'm not finding very much that works and i don't think the mermaid set is even in. :(

I wish we had the variety and creativity of the furniture in ACPC. Would it be very hard to transfer some of the item designs/3D models to NH? No idea, but it just makes me hope that Nintendo won't go down the greedy path they went with PC.

So far I make do with all the 'normal' stuff we're getting and decorating my house like it's an actual house. Which get's boring after a while, and pretty much every screenshot I've seen so far of house interiors so far look more or less the same. You either get people with the entire Cute series, or people with a rustic modern minimal design. It's all very pretty, but nowhere close to NL or PC.

And I do hope we get more furniture in future updates, but like you I'm also wary of the people being so incredibly certain that features from NL we miss are going to be added. Leif is a great start though, I so hope he stays.

My greatest hope is that Nintendo has this idea that we all experience going through the game and getting upgrades and access to more items and characters at the same time.

I just find it odd that there is more variety in Pocket Camp than this game. You'd expect this game to have more than a mobile game! I just doesn't really make sense to me.

I have a hunch that it's partly due to the size of your store and as it grows so will the furniture.

Right now I've been getting a lot of little furniture items and stuff like fans and vacuums, which I thinks makes sense for the cranny. It's a little run down store on what's still a run down island. Why would they have fancy furniture?

I haven't seen anything that confirms this, but I also haven't seen anything that disproves it ether. Largest store I've seen someone have is just the first upgrade.

It just worries me, because in literally every other game, they sold good furniture from the get-go. I started a new New Leaf town to play alongside New Horizons, and just on the first couple of days in New Leaf, I was able to find things belonging to a wide variety of different sets. It just seems that from the get-go at least, the furniture has been infinitely better in the other games. I am just a bit wary that upgrades might not do anything but give us a bigger selection of no-good "normal" furniture.

I hope you are correct, I just have my doubts!

The only furniture I have that I like so far is from balloons and crafting. I've found some really cute crafting recipes and gotten lucky with some cute items from shooting down balloons. Sometimes Nook's will have a nice plant, tea set, or something cool like a fortune teller's set.. but not much else I like so far.

yeah, I'm going to be really sad if that turns out to be the case. Everything in NH seems to be slown down significantly so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that we'll get cooler furniture further down the line :)

I do think it's a bit weird though that able sisters has so much stock from the get go. That's a bit worrying to me.

Same. I miss my chaise lounge. And the Gracie/gorgeous sets if Gracie isn't going to come back. And rococo of course! It's very frustrating :(

i actually really like the new furniture. sure, it's sad we don't have the series anymore but i never liked most of them anyways. now i think the whole furniture looks so much better and actually like you would put it in a house. i only really miss the princess and rococo series

I'm glad you like it :) That's my issue, though. Animal Crossing was always a game where you could make your own unique creations. Only having "normal" furniture really stifles a lot of the creative freedom. I've seen screenshots of different people's houses and they almost always look more or less the same. I actually had to abandon the unique theme I had planned for my town and go for a generic looking town that pretty much looks the same as everyone else's.

Could just be the game doing a thing. When I played New Leaf, I literally kept getting the same items in my stores day after day no matter the upgrade for years. It was horrible. I had no choice but to trade with people online.

Hi,

I just wanted to point out that we have recently imported all items from New Horizons (we think) and hopefully you can use this to answer your questions: https://villagerdb.com/items/all-furniture?game=nh You can use the filters on the side (top on mobile) to answer some of these questions along with the text search.

Awesome! Thanks for letting us know. I'll be checking it out! ^_^

NOOOO!!!!! I JUST CLICKED THROUGH EVERY SINGLE PAGE OF THE NEW HORIZONS FURNITURE AND ALL MY FAVORITE SETS HAVE BEEN CUT. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT ALL THE GOOD/UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL PIECES HAVE ALSO BEEN CUT :(

My worries have been confirmed. Severely lacking in the sets department. Found some interesting things here and there, but otherwise disappointed in all the "normal" furniture. Oh well...

I guess it just confirms what I said about not thinking the furniture was going to get better anytime soon.
