So I have the Animal Crossing special edition Switch, which was joycon driftless until I decided to play Hades. I love this game so much and I don't regret it whatsoever. But this game quickly destroyed my joycon. And it makes me incredibly frustrated that Nintendo made their controllers to be this awful. I've had this Switch for under a year! And I can't even replace the joycon without buying another console. It's ridiculous. This isn't even the first time it happened. My first Switch also got the dreaded joycon drift, but I gave it to my bf after getting the ACNH edition. The worst part is, even if I just replace them with regular joycon and not the cute pastel green and blue ones, they're $100! No way I'm spending that kind of money on controllers that'll break anyway. I'm just so upset because it's making all my Switch games unplayable, and playing handheld is my favourite thing to do; that's why it's my console of choice.

I know this is an issue that has been brought up so many times but I'm just really sad and upset about it. I guess I just needed to vent a little.. I don't know what to do about it :(

Oh, yikes. I just got Hades this week, and didn't know that was a thing.

I'm pretty sure you can get the joy-cons repaired for free, at least, but obviously you won't be able to use them in the meantime.

But wouldn't they just break again after a while? And I'd still have to pay for shipping I think. It's just frustrating that it has to even happen in the first place hehe. I wish there were 3rd party joycon that I could buy.

And yeah, it's definitely a bit of a button mashy game and it's really hard on the left joystick so please be careful! It's such a great game though, I hope you love it and that you'll be lucky about the joycon thing!

Yeesh, that’s awful. I was excited thinking about buying the physical copy of Hades, but nevermind. I have a Lite, so the thought of joy con drift terrifies me.

I forgot about it, but you could try cleaning the joystick with compressed air and/or rubbing alcohol, if you haven't already. Besides that, yeah, you'd have to pay for shipping to get the joy-cons repaired by Nintendo, but it's still a lot less than getting a new set of joy-cons, I imagine. As for them breaking again, I've heard that it doesn't always happen, but that might just be from people like me, who haven't really played anything super intense yet.

If you're in the US, you can get your Joy-Con repaired for free by Nintendo because they've been (rightly) threatened by lawsuits over not fixing their faulty products.

I didn't have to pay a cent for shipping when I sent them in, just found a box to put them in and took them to the UPS store.

I actually cleaned them daily and they were fine until I played Hades, hehe. And I guess I just have no more faith in joycon at all since it's already my second set that has broken.

Covid has also kinda messed with my employment and wages so even paying shipping seems like a waste of money when it's so limited at the moment 😅

Unfortunately, I'm in Canada :( I'll look into the free repair thing but I can't stand not being able to play my games for weeks while I wait lol 🙈

I was thinking about doing this! I've been looking into it for a while but idk where to start since may sources say different things.

this happened to me with Luigis mansion. catching ghosts really messed up my left controller it was super frustrating when playing other games, especially ACNH.

BUT did you know that if you live in the US you can fill out a form and mail your joy cons to Nintendo, and they'll fix your joy con drift for free! I am not sure if this applies to special edition joy cons, but im sure you could call customer service and ask. If you need the link to the form you fill out I can give it to :)
