The Adventurer's Roost: TAVERIN ♞

Welcome to the port town of TAVERIN!
This island was an undiscovered land, originally investigated for it's magical properties.
Ancient beasts were believed to have been drawn to the rune veins below the surface, each rune associated with an element and designated life force.

Undercover magus-detectives, KATT and KEVIN, were sent to support ALIAS, a weathered but chipper guild leader.
Together they were entrusted to uncover the secrets of the land, while running the surface impression of developing the isle.
It wasn't long until residents from all around the world arrived: each with their own intentions and values.
Mercenaries, mages, tourists, traders, and even those with connections to royalty...

TAVERIN has grown considerably since it's founding, but the thrum of the tension and conflict lay hidden beneath it's surfaces.
It runs just like any other developing trade centre-- residents amock, trades occurring, the distant laughter and chatter of it's people...
It's entirely unassuming to any who visit it without a second glance.

... But some rumors speak of lost magic still brimming with life when the moon reaches the sky.
An ever mysterious narrative lays in the underbelly of Taverin's assumingly peaceful life.

Resident Profiles:​

Alias | Resident Representative Alias is the guild leader of Schyele, a trading and market guild from the West. As resident representative, they spend a lot of time socializing with islanders within and outside of Taverin. The guild of Schyele has expanded it's branches to Taverin, and the island now serves as it's secondary base. They are known for mischief, sending cryptic messages to their residents and lending weird tasks and objects to those around them. Nonetheless, their intentions seem to be mostly good, as they spend a good amount of their time assisting others & contributing to Taverin's devleopment.

Static | Chaotic Good An ex-mercenary with a lot of magic scars as remnants of his past. He lost someone important to him and retired from his line of work because of it-- he moved to Taverin to live peacefully and contemplate his next steps in life. He has a very intolerant and bristled exterior, but is actually quite kind once past that prickly shell. He specializes in lightning magic, and is adept with a sword as well. May have a soft spot for Alias.

Marshal | Lawful Neutral (Previously: Lawful Evil) An exiled prince from the north known for his distasteful tactics. His kingdom uses law and connections to make folks succumb to corruption. He arrived in Taverin with intentions to steal the land, but after discovering how his retainer, Monty, had been manipulating him from the shadows, he dismissed him and eased his plans for a while. He's at a loss with Taverin's somewhat lax exterior-- he tries his best to fit in but he's not very well socialized. He didn't come in with the best impression for making friends, but he's learning.

Katt | Chaotic Good If you're looking for someone to fit the description of "cool cat", Katt is your girl. She's a hard working detective who specializes in magic-related incidents. She is the survivor of a monster possession-- while the beast is sealed, it's physical traits are slowly revealing themselves. None of this affects how she treats others, however-- she's amicable and level-headed, and has tendencies to be snide and smug sometimes. Anyone who gets close to her is automatically family to her.

Genji | Neutral Good Katt's new detective partner. He's a little simple-minded, but he's full of good intentions nonetheless. He's actually very, very impressive when it comes to using his bostaff, but you wouldn't think he's threatening from the way he acts. Young and full of energy. Gets crushes on people easily. (Has a crush on Katt.)

Pekoe | Lawful Neutral A gentle soul all-around, Pekoe is a lover of nature and people. She's extremely introverted but will do anything to ensure the people around her are healthy and happy. She knows a lot about herbs and medicine, and appears to be a spiritual individual. Can probably flip someone with ease, but you wouldn't assume so from her gentle nature. Might have connections with the faction of Dragons.

Tasha | Chaotic Neutral She has a history of being a merchant, a mercenary, a guildie, and a group president... Tasha has explored much of the world and she has yet to find a place in it. She's a very curious individual and very proud of her achievements-- definitely isn't afraid to let you know this from time to time. Nonetheless, she always has time to spare for people who want her attention, and as long as you give her something new to learn she's happy to tag along.

Sherb | Lawful Evil Sherb is a spoiled prince whose baby-face has deceived one too many. He's a cunning mastermind who would put Marshal to shame, and has a pretty, adorable face to pair with his scheming nature. No one quite knows why he's here, but ever since his arrival, Taverin has been especially restless at night... He's magically adept, but no one knows what kind of magic potential he has, only that his aura is succinct with threat. Katt has described to various folks that it feels like someone is watching you when you're in the vicinity of him. His aloof personality is one that hides whatever lurks beneath.

• Coco: A golem who was brought in and out quickly.
• Gayle: A friendly passby with connections to royalty. Shortly after arriving, she got very ill. Deciding she wasn't safe in Taverin, she moved on.
• Sly: Visited very promptly after thinking Taverin was 'cool'. Rented a house, moved out the next week. Very oblivious to danger.
• Monty: Marshal's previous retainer. Katt and Genji unearthed a conspiracy around him, opened Marshal's eyes to the deception, and he was released. His whereabouts are unknown.
• Kevin: A jolly, friendly soul with a knack for martial arts. Katt's original detective partner. Was promptly called away for another important mission-- Genji was assigned as Katt's partner in return.
• Stitches: A sickly traveller who liked Taverin and it's residents quite a bit. He did not stay long enough for everyone to know him, but his presence was quite warm.
• Skye: The daughter of a sky-pirate who just wanted to live a normal life. She moved after realizing she could pursue her writing career in another island.
• Olaf: A handsome traveller who had a suspiciously large amount of money.
• Freya: A loving guild leader who treated everyone like her own child. Motherly and cared for everyone regardless of their associations. Was called away for guild work.
• Egbert: A mage & researcher who had really bad sleep habits. He was a bit of a workaholic. Moved away for 'business'.
• Tutu: The daughter of a renowned merchant. Moved to the city before Egg Day so she could observe the city events in action, as well as to further her career as a merchant.
• Lucha: A masked man who had connections to nobility and the guild.
• Annalisa: A knowledgeable guild member from the west. Kept to herself but was very kind. Moved away and Jacques took her place-- they may have been business partners/connected somehow. Got along well with Static.
• Julian: A pretty boy who didn't talk much. Loved to sing by the river. He moved away from Taverin with a spring in his step, knowing he was going to a place where he would be loved.

♚OVERVIEW & MEMENTOS ♚

01: [The Beginning]

Katt and Kevin, undercover detective duo set their roots down in the unknown island. It is later established to be named TAVERIN.
People trickle in-- Billy, an ex-retainer from the south. Static, a stoic mercenary with many magic scars and very little time for others. Lucha, a mysterious masked individual who refused to reveal much about himself. Tutu, the daughter of a renowned trader from the grand city. Wade, an ice mage with a lazy disposition and unknown alignment. There was even Rex, a runaway prince who had grown lost due to his kingdom being usurped.
The most endearing of all was Bella, who was a regular monster girl who hadn't the slightest idea of what was happening in Taverin-- she simply wanted to be famous.

02:[New Arrivals]

Spoiler: 02

The new residents trickled in quickly-- Katt and Kevin grew weary of the growing population, as folks arrived quicker than they could investigate with. They eventually reached out to Lucha-- realizing that he had connections to acclaimed nobility in the west, they figured he was an individual that they could trust. The alliance didn't form smoothly-- Lucha was stubborn about keeping his identity secret, and forming a pact would risk losing that.
Egbert moved in promptly, and left just as quickly-- his presence confused the residents of Taverin, as he never seemed to leave his house and he never socialized much with anyone. Rumours say that he was a scholar and mage who did illegal dealings-- from his tired appearance, it was apparent that he didn't sleep much.
The person who took his place shortly after was Olaf-- someone clearly of high nobility. Unlike Lucha, Katt and Kevin didn't feel like they could trust him-- Olaf seemed to have an agenda. Nonetheless, He took a liking to Rex, and they became good friends.

03: [A murder...]

The day after a peaceful fishing tournament, the air was alight with the element of air. Rex made his way to meet with his friend Olaf, but upon knocking on the door, there was a sign there that had handwriting he didn't recognize:

"I moved out."

Rex was heartbroken-- having no news of Olaf having any intentions to move, and losing yet another close friend, he insisted on a search. This wasn't right. He would've told him-- someone-- anyone, before moving. Right? After informing guild leader Alias, a search went underway. Katt and Kevin did their best to investigate without being suspicious, but it was obvious that the tension was high. Without the proper profiles of all the new residents, the team was scrambling to put together a proper assessment. On top of that, Lucha also disappeared-- he had informed Alias and insisted that not a single soul heard the move.

04: [A prince & his retainer]

Instead of finding answers, the team was met with more questions: Two individuals moved in.
Marshal and Monty.
Marshal was an exiled prince from the far north. Monty, his older, no-nonsense retainer. Both of them arrived with smug, snide demeanors. Katt and Kevin were furious about their presence because there was something familiar about the crest they wore when they arrived into town: Why, yes... They wore the same crest as the one that was scrawled into walls of Olaf's vacant house.

Today is Pekoe's birthday! Here's a lovely picture with my friend Jax! <3
Raymond came to celebrate, and apparently he and Pekoe worked on it all night!

I'm officially declaring these as suspiciously close. Perhaps there's some kind of connection here that I didn't think about earlier... <3
Raymond helps her water flowers from time to time, so it seems like they're on a very subtle but amicable closeness.​
