The donation box is a great idea but...

...But why are you only allowed to donate in increments of 1000 bells?? That's pocket change! Usually not even enough to purchase 1 item -_- I feel like 10,000 would have been a great default number. Or at least give us options between 1000, 10,000, and 50,000 or something if they really are against letting us choose our own amounts. I usually wanna donate at least 10k but it's such a pain to have to go through the dialogue 10 times just to do so when I could just easily drop a 10k bell bag. I see a lot of people opting to use the donation box but the way it's being implemented is just so.... useless imo? Seriously, I adore the idea! No one can steal tips or payments from you when you use it, and it doesn't litter the ground. But I just really wish it was just done better. What do you guys think?

Yeah, the 1K is a small number and I was expecting a pop-up when you donate bells to Lloid.

I don't know, I have no strong opinions on it. I have one out just for fun than for practical purposes.

I definitely like the donation box in theory. But, yeah, it's execution does admittedly leave something to be desired. Having more control over how much you can donate (either it's several options like 1k, 10k, 99k, or a basic "enter the amount to put in" screen) rather than just one lowly option would definitely go a long way towards improving it.

It would be incredibly better if it worked like the Deposit option on the ABD.

But I have to admit, at first, I thought it's purpose was to get bells from your villagers. Like, in the same way that they can donate to Lloid when you're building a bridge/incline, and now that you can see some bells being donated to the Lloids in Harv's island, I thought it was more for the villagers than for other players.

I agree that 1k is very low, but allowing big amounts of money wouldn't make sense either. Especially for transactions since that's not what donation boxes are used for (unless you're rich and enjoy money laundering)...

I just think of it as another fun item that adds a little something and can be used. Works just fine outside of my museum.

on my island i have *right now and going to increase* 15 gifts in a lot of different places on my island *i was going to make it into a game at some point, whoever finds them all wins an end prize*

Yeah I'd probably use the donation box if I'm practically giving something away, though I'd be embarrassed to use it on another person's island knowing I only gave 1 freaking k bells I'll most likely end up dropping a bag near the donation box if I want to tip.

I totally agree. This isn't enough at all. Not even close. This is definitely something that may have overlooked and not given enough thought about. Major a minor update when fixing bugs could solve this issue.

I definitely agree that they should've let us choose how much to put in.

With that being said, considering how many people I've seen complain about opening their islands, accepting tips, and then having a guest steal all of said tips, I am glad it solves that problem. It definitely could be better, but it's still nice to have in that regard.

I was disappointed in that too! At least have an option for 5 or 10k as well as 1,000.

I had visitors over several times this week, saw people engage with the box, checked it and it had 5k in it. Nice as a little tip but largely useless beyond that!

Would have been nicer to have a box similar to the dropbox where you can donate whatever you'd like. I agree that 1k is hardly worth the trouble.

I was kinda disappointed that you couldn't put items in it - I was hoping that I could ask for random donations (even trash!) just for fun, to see what I would get. An extra surprise, like the recycling bin.

But with bells, I agree that 1k really isn't that much, even for players just starting out.
