The Information Desk: Ask questions about the site here!

Are capitalized and uncapitalized names unique? For example, can there be a 'Duododo' and also a 'duododo'?

I bought a username change but one of the names I'm considering is taken in uncapitalized form, but not capitalized. I don't want to use up the name change if it won't work though!
No they aren't. There can only be one regardless of which letters are capitalized.

Can people view on your profile your previous usernames ? And if so is there a way to hide it ?

what exactly is the purpose of the abd? is it just to store tbt bells or does it have an interest over time functionality?

also what is unlocked content? (located in the bar above the shop, also near abd)

it's just a way to store tbt so it's not out in the open on your profile. years and years ago there was an interest feature, but members abused it and the staff removed it and it hasn't returned since.

While we’re not allowed to call out other members on this forum in a negative light, is it against the site rules to call out members from other forums or networks on this site as well? Say if I complained about a problematic user on GameFAQs and said his name on this site, but said user isn’t even a member on TBT.

I forget, does the Island Journal subforum give TBT bells?
Yes, it just has a slightly different trigger. It awards bells a maximum of 1x every 18 hours, but grants a slightly higher amount than other forum boards.

This has the potential to create a hostile/negative environment, so we would prefer posts of this nature to be kept off TBT entirely.

Would it be recommended against that I post both in What Did you Do Today and in my Island Journal for that content?

Am I correct in assuming from the information about post merges provided in the Frequently Asked Questions About The Bell Tree thread that if you were to wait like, 31 minutes, the second post wouldn't merge into the first? I have a thread I wanted to make in the Brewster's Café section in the future once I finish compiling things and it would be convenient to have the first two posts dedicated to it because they cover the same direct topic (in a thread that would have the possibility for a myriad of subjects discussed within). Assuming, of course, that someone didn't already respond in the time I would be waiting to make the second post. I wouldn't be making a habit of such action moving forward, just encountered forum limitations that make successive posts more desirable in this instance.

Ok, thanks! I’m just looking for more information of what not to say on TBT. After all, you can’t call out other members, on this site or other sites, for recent activity or activity from over 10 years ago, that you didn’t like.

We will never be able to control others. Focus on yourself and meet amazing people on this forum.

I'd recommend against it if the content is full-on copypaste, but there's no rule against posting in both areas with different content. :)

This is correct! However, I'm not sure what type of discussion thread would require two separate "main" posts dedicated to the same topic. There's always the option to use headers to create separation within the main post if that would work for your idea.

I would REALLY like to make a thread that I can post in everytime i get a new piece of AC merch. I already made a “do you own ac merch” thread a while ago but I’d kill to make one specific to *my* journey towards having a huge collection that I grow over time. Can I do that and, if so, what board would the thread best be kept under?

That goes under the general AC discussion board.

Wait? How do you change your username? Do you need TBT for a certain item? What item is this? I just hope someone answers.
