You can have both, just make another level and put the observeatory on the 3rd floor and gift shop on the 2nd, maybe have one of their family members come and manage it? (I mean the emporium has three floors, why not the museum?)

The observatory 100%

I loved making constellations and looking at the night sky in my town in Wild World. With New Leafs night sky looking so pretty, I?m always sad that I can?t decorate it with constellations.
The second floor in the museum is a waste of space to me. I tried to do some clever things with the rooms once - got one set up like a cafe, another like a shop, another like an arcade and whilst they look ok I never go in them. I?m lucky if I go up to the second floor every other month.
On top of all that, Celeste is just made for star gazing. I mean just look at her name!

IMO the observatory was a waste of space. Nothing to do except make constellations that you’ll never look at. The second floor is a better use of space. Yet inthink Celeste deserves something more than just managing a bunch of empty rooms. I hope they come up with something cool for Celeste to do!

I've personally never had an experience with the observatory but I heard it has better functions to it. For the second floor, I found it lackluster that there wasn't much to do other than shopping and decorating exhibits which you could ignore entirely. However, keeping both options are fine because they really don't hinder the gameplay in any way.

Being a big fan of astronomy (I am an astrophysics major, after all), I really enjoyed the observatory from Wild World and City Folk. I can hardly recall when I used the second floor in the museum on New Leaf, so I'm really hoping that they bring the observatory back. I miss making constellations and then seeing them on clear nights.

Aaa I loved both honestly.
In NL I felt like Celeste lost a bit of character. Yeah the second floor was good for storage and other useful things, but aa gosh,,,She was always known for the observatory. Seeing that they removed it made me a bit sad cause I loved making small designs in the sky. I really hope they bring back both features though.

I think if they do bring it back, they should make it easier to create designs. As you were really limited back in CF and WW. It'd actually be fun to draw images in the sky :00

A combination of both.

A telescope you could look through with realistic constellations, comets, planets and stars.

100% observatory. I was very disappointed when they replaced it with the shop in New Leaf. I never used it except to get shiny tools.

Screw the second floor. Who ever visits that? I surely don't.

I think they could very easily implement both. Just have Celeste snooze in the gift shop during the day, and have it close at a certain hour like the rest of the shops. After hours, she can appear up another flight of stairs in her observatory, where she can spend all night beneath the stars to focus on her passion. The museum display rooms can be accessed at any time; the only inconvenience would be that people would have to ask permission to use it during the day one initial time.

Also, I could see her observatory being a PWP, much like Club LOL and the Dream Suite.

I loved the observatory, but I also liked making my own exhibition rooms, so the perfect setup for me would be some sort of combination of the two. I kind of like the idea of the observatory being its own separate PWP— for some reason the museum itself having three floors just seems strange to me.

^That's a neat idea spirits! They could make the observatory into a really cute little building with a cute telescope coming out the top. Come to think of it... the telescope was never visible from the outside of the museum before!

Yooo! That'd be neat! Just having constellations was boring for me. If they added more features to the observatory, that'd be rad. And if you mean them selling a telescope with the function of looking at those same things, that'd be well ace too. I imagine the personal telescope showing up as a pricey item in the gift shop after unlocking the observatory or reaching a certain goal relating to it.

I prefer the observatory. I hope that making constelations will return.
