The Official Feedback Thread

So what’s next for official responses? I’m always eager for new updates.

For my part, I plan on writing a post covering the various major points about collectibles and bells that have come up in the threads, with some potential changes that have been floating around in my head. Understandably, I hope, the current event has put a bit of a stall on this thread for the moment. But we'll be back!

Though I also wanted to point out that in several recent events (going back to 2020), the staff were overly generous in giving out TBT Fair awards. Case in point, the Colorful Confetti event had 18 staff favorites, 9 per round. Looking back at the 2016 TBT Fair and 2017 TBT Fair, the Bucket of Paint only had five staff favorite awards per event. Some of the other events also went overboard on staff favorites (and raffle winners as well). I’m not sure if it was better to hand out more awards, or fewer awards.

I would agree that this is the case, there's definitely been a slow upward trend over time in the number of winners. However, on the flip side, I do wonder if this can almost make it feel worse for some people when there are more winners and they're still not on that list. So as you say, I'm not sure if it's made the problem better or worse.

In my opinion, having more fair award winners last year was more understandable or excusable given that it’s the 20th anniversary of TBT. Making it extra special was a good idea. I will also say that part of the reason why it was easier to get staff favorites was more about all of the event staff having their personal favorites, not just to make it fairer for everyone.

But for future events, one thing I could suggest is that while there should be fewer award winners, those who do win an honorable mention can get a free collectible of their choice, given that it’s distributed during the same event only. For instance, using the 2017 TBT Fair, had there been nine winners instead of five per event, but only five got the Tetris Grid, the other four that got honorable mentions can choose a different gradient feather (or an original arcade collectible) as the prize. I’m not sure if this would be a good idea, but I did want to come up with a 50/50 solution to this.

I still hope we will be able to lock our own threads in the future. 🤞🏻

Could you elaborate on what you mean? What types of threads or boards are you currently unable to lock that you would like to, and why? I believe the boards that have clear reasons for the starter to close already allow for that, but if we're missing an obvious one.

Quoting my last post in this thread:
Is there a particular reason why regular users can’t lock their own threads? There are a few threads of mine (some more than others) I wish to lock, and even if it’s not erasing them from view, at least they won’t be bumped.

I would love for this to be considered for the future. Of course, staff would still be able to respond to locked threads to my knowledge, at least, so what’s really the harm? /genq

Some of the threads I’m referring to are threads maybe from the past that aren’t relevant anymore. Also, there are some threads I made that I wish I hadn’t, such as the “would you be friends with someone with opposing beliefs?” Threads like those only cause drama, and I was too dumb to see it at the time. I feel like locking it would prevent it from being bumped. Letting those threads be buried would be the best thing, I think.

I also think older members that made silly threads when they were younger also wouldn’t want their threads to surface.

Well, to be fair, if you really want to close your thread yourself, you can always just report the first post and ask the mods to lock it.

I’m not for members having the ability to lock their own discussion threads, but I am for users requesting their own threads to get closed and the staff to close threads on request.

Can I give feedback about the ads at the top of the forum?
This one is taking up most of the screen on my phone... I feel like that's not supposed to be happening.
