The Official WWE Thread

CM Punk is getting his dream and main eventing WrestleMania in this triple threat against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. Night One, no doubt. Cool. I kinda wish it would've been next year since having a world title involved would've been even better, but hey. Interesting that it wasn't his favor that Paul Heyman owes him. Looking forward to seeing what that ends up being.

Apparently Drew McIntyre got glass in his eye from the encounter with Damian Priest last night. Hopefully it didn't do too much damage.

Looking forward to seeing what that ends up being.
Part of me hopes that the build between Cena and Cody has been lackluster because the favor is gonna be that if Punk wins the Triple Threat, he gets inserted into the WWE Championship match. He's been sorta throwing little hints here and there at it and even called out Cena/Rock the night after Cena turned. I don't expect this to happen, but it would be pretty cool. 👀

Watched the latest WWE Rivals episode and wow…that Shawn Michaels vs. Scott Hall ladder match was something else!

And Scott Hall though…😍 whatta man!

That would be cool to see, though I'm not sure how likely it is to happen either. Though, I can't see Rollins letting him get away with the win even if Punk beat Reigns and Rollins on Night 1.

Cody and Cena did finally have some good back and forth promos last night, I liked their verbal barbs at each other. Cody probably needs to make sure his opponent's secure before doing the move, and this is a problem for more people than just him, but the Cross Rhodes could've gone a little quicker to be more believable considering there wasn't really any damage done prior to him cinching it in. Also, Cena sold the move like death, haha.

Supposedly this was John's last RAW until WrestleMania, so uh, that kinda sucks. Hopefully not the case, but I guess we'll see.

I saw someone point out that The Rock hasn't been involved in this thing at all since Elimination Chamber, which is a whole other aspect of this that has just kinda gone ignored.

The Rhea vs. Iyo match last night with Bianca as guest referee was fun.

Since this is from 2013, I’m going to assume Mr. Snickers is no longer with us. BUT what kind of rabbit is that?? It’s huge, but I don’t think it’s a Flemish Giant….

- Kevin Owens announced on SmackDown that he's had an issue with his neck for a while, that his medical testing indicates that he requires surgery and that he doesn't know when it might be possible for him to return to action. He will not be able to compete against Randy Orton at WrestleMania. This is bad on its own, but also the timing couldn't be worse since we're only two weeks out from WrestleMania on the 19th and 20th of this month. I like KO and have been a fan since his Kevin Steen days back in Ring of Honor. Here's hoping for a smooth recovery from his surgery and that he will able to return to competition eventually if he chooses to do so.

- Randy came out and quietly wishes KO the best on the apron and entered the ring, where SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis told Randy that this unfortunately meant Randy no longer has a match at WrestleMania. Randy, frustrated about the situation, RKO'd him. People are guessing that this might mean there will be an Orton-Aldis match instead. If so, it's neat to see Aldis get a match in WWE, but it's unfortunate that it arose from this situation. Don't know how they build that up sufficiently in two weeks, but hey.

- Jacob Fatu earned the right to face LA Knight for the United States Championship at WrestleMania after he beat Braun Strowman. I like both guys, but I don't know who I want to win that match. They're both really popular and can both use the win; Knight would benefit from beating a monster like Fatu and retaining to show that he's not just a transitional champion, while Fatu could use the win to earn some singles gold. I guess Solo could screw Jacob out of the win at WrestleMania to further their own feud that has been slowly brewing.

- The whole Tiffany Stratton-Charlotte Flair feud hasn't been going so well. Supposedly the verbal barbs they exchanged were actually shoots rather than what was planned. That itself could be WWE working the dirtsheets, but if not, woof. Also I can understand similar ring gear but how likely is it that they're both going to wear such similar casual clothes? I know the whole appeal of the feud is that they look alike, but that was a stretch. Charlotte seemed truly taken aback by the crowd's antipathy toward her.

- CM Punk's favor from Paul Heyman was revealed; Paul Heyman will be in CM Punk's corner at WrestleMania instead of Roman's. A bit of a letdown of a favor, at least in my opinion, but it makes sense given thier history and relationship. Saw someone mention that statement Roman made at Paul's Hall of Fame induction last year that when he no longer has The Wiseman, we won't be seeing The Tribal Chief anymore. Nice bit of intrigue added in there. Granted, he's kind of a Chief without a tribe now. He reclaimed his ula fala from Solo earlier this year, but everyone's kind of doing their own thing now. Maybe he'll be retiring sooner than later? Maybe his gimmick will change? Guess we'll see.

- I fogot to mention the Gunther attack last Monday where he bloodied up Jimmy Uso, ziptied Jey to the ring ropes, and locked Jmmy in a submission hold with Jey futilely trying to break free and only being able to helplessly watch. Gunther eventually got up, covered in Jimmy's blood. Great visual. I'm still not really feeling Jey in this position, but no hard feelings toward him.

- Between that time Solo and Tama put that chair around his head and Solo hip attacked into it last year and now Gunther's bloody assault, Jimmy Uso ought to change his name to Kenny Uso because oh my god, he keeps getting killed.

If I put Goldust vs. a bunch of other wrestlers in the Drag Race simulator, I wonder what would happen lol.

Oh, and Santino Marella in his mall drag

I kept telling myself "This has to be a work. It's part of the story." Man I feel bad for Owens. Especially when he's about to wrestle Randy Orton at Wrestlemania. He's given so much to the company during his time in WWE. I hope he makes a full recovery.

Glad to see Fatu in the match for the US Championship, but I think Solo is gonna "help" Fatu but end up costing him the match. The Fatu wrecks Solo and start yelling "I HATE. YOU. SOLOOOOO!" every week lmao

I honestly expected Heyman being in Punk's corner to be the favor. It made sense since Heyman seemed so conflicted and also it's just so deep. Being by Punk's side at the main even of Wrestlemania must've been Heyman's dream as well. Such a moment in Chicago.

I was excited for Straton vs Flair but it seems like Charlotte's been going off-script since the virtual interview bit. I honestly feel like there's some actual heat between the two now. I just hope their match doesn't get messy.

Build up between Iyo vs Bianca vs Ripley has been good except that special referee match. I get it's for the build up but having a title rematch with Bianca as the special referee itself was just stupid 🤦‍♂️ Iyo remained champ though so I'm not mad lol

Jey vs Gunther build-up's been shaky but I like how they used the botch to their favor, because like, Jey's done that suicide dive hundreds of times in his career so ofc mark's have to call-out him messing it up once lol. That thing with Jimmy definitely was brutal. First Jimmy breaks his toe at war games, then he bleeds like crazy on Raw. Jimmy puts himself through a lot for his family man. He's honestly grown on me. He feels like the true underdog of the family.

Tony Hinchcliffe is the worst commentator to ever put on headset. MF was SO annoying and unfunny, he ruined New Day vs War Raiders and he killed Raw tonight for me.

I'm honestly just getting sick of all these celebrities and Netflix Show advertisements. They say they're fans but how many of them are, honestly?

Mickie, it’s not that bad. A lot of the modern female wrestlers wear stuff like this and it’s not “lingerie.” Their fans aren’t only going for their looks. Also, the DUDES wear way less and people take them seriously. Like, I get empowering my fellow women…but this is not it.

Saw Cody Rhodes on the Today Show this morning. They asked how he explains wrestling to his daughter and he says he tells her “he and his friends are pretending to be superheroes.” 😂 That’s a good way to describe it!

I remember watching Mick Foley’s recent “Dark Side of the Ring” where his kids were at his “I quit” match with The Rock. They were little and crying, and later said it was traumatizing. That one was pretty intense, so I believe them.

What happens when you put wrestling superstars in a Drag Race simulator? A lot, actually….

I enjoyed WrestleMania but the advertisements were a bit too much for me. They need to let it breathe.
This and the constant celebrity appearances have been getting so annoying. A few appearances is good, especially from guys like Bad Bunny but at this point it's just like... let us see the freaking wrestlers already lol

ok ok ok lemme lock in and write my wrestlemania review but before i do that i just want to say that the RAW After Mania was better literally a perfect show 10/10

~Night 1~

-Jey vs Gunther was good and I actually enjoyed it! One of Uce's best matches for sure and that's saying something!! I like that he was mixing up his moves a bit albeit through stealing from Gunther's repertoire, but it elevated the match for sure. What I (and probably most) didn't like was how Gunther tapped so suddenly. They could've easily had him be locked in for 5 seconds more or be close to a rope break and Jey gives him vicious elbows and rolls him back to the middle and he taps. Gunther looked absolutely silly at the end of it, but I'm happy Jey finally got his moment cause he deserves it fr!! But now he can lose it whenever I don't care LOL give him one successful defense maybe and call it a wrap. It's truly monumental that he's gotten where he is now but wrap it up cause there's much more compelling choices as champ right now. **cough Rollins cough**

-Raw tag match was filler match most definitely. I'm happy the New Day won, but they feel cooled down heavy since they turned heel. If I'm booking, I have them win the titles immediately after turning and have The Hardys as a surprise defense at WM and have them go over through a dirty finish. Gutted that the SD Tag titles didn't get a spotlight, as I just read that the TLC Match on Smackdown was incredible!

-A lot of Night 1 was just okay to me honestly and Jade vs Naomi is another match that reflected that. Jade is looking a wee bit better every time she wrestles, but still a lil clunky sometimes. She did have some cool reversals though but wtf was that goofy entrance for her first WM match?? Might as well have had Taker come out and shoot lightning before she came out at that point LOL it's cool that it was a Weather Channel vet but the green screen looked pretty silly.

-Fatu vs LA Knight, what can I say besides just a good match. They could've done more for sure as with most of these matches but the right guy won and I'm happy that Fatu is just gonna go on an absolute tear with this title. Absolutely shocked that Solo was relegated to just an entrance this WM, as I thought he would be facing Fatu or Roman! His stock has fallen hard since he lost the Ula Fala and I feel bad because he was just starting to find his footing but Jacob outshines him in everyway. Maybe they benefit from being on seperate brands, something like a "Loser leaves SD/Bloodline" and could actually see Solo win through dirty means cause Jacob is the type of superstar that can just be on his own wrecking whatever.

-El Grande vs Rey Fenix was cool. Again, could've been longer and they could have done more and actually shocked that they let Fenix get pinned already but if Rey was in this spot it would've been him getting pinned as well. Better Fenix fighting in this match than someone like Dragon Lee who is good but has no "new wrestler shine" or momentum right now so the match probably would've been a silent affair.

-I was expecting somewhat of a masterclass between Charlotte and Tiffany last Saturday and what we got was just a mediocre match IMO. Part of me thinks Charlotte dragged during this to make Tiffany look bad cause she wasn't going over LOL. A lot of the spots and set-ups just looked messy and awkward. Very happy that Tiffany won this match though (and that her teeth are okay) because anytime Charlotte is in a big time match, I feel like she is always going to win just to pad her title record and it's great to see that Tiffy went over. I put the house on Charlotte winning next time they lock horns though, there's no way Tiffy goes over twice.

-The triple threat match was absolutely incredible!! Easily the match of the night and perhaps even the whole event! I knew all three of them would deliver but they went beyond that. Even though you could probably see Rollins turning from a mile away, it was still a cool moment and everyone in this match worked so well with each other. Punk's entrance almost made me weep because of the callbacks and he's been one of my all time favs since he was in ECW, he deserves this so much. Hopefully next year he wins the Rumble and fights for a title in the main event. This match absolutely should've been for the WHC!!! Not only would it have elevated that title, but it would have Rollins heel run off to an even more fiery start. He's about to go on potentially the best run of his career and I am so here for it.

If you actually read all this you're the best cause and I was going to do Night 2 but I'll do it tomorrow hahaha

The best part of the match was Undertaker’s entrance…and Bobby Heenan’s (?) Tweety and Sylvester joke. Also, poor Giant Gonzales…why did they make him wear that weird bodysuit?
(People have also said this was one of the worst Wrestlemanias ever. It’s a shame, bc the outdoor idea seemed pretty cool.)

Also, Shawn’s baby behind the scenes at Wrestlemania 2000…. He must be around 25 now, which is weird to think about. I was in preschool back then lol.

I don’t have the Backlash Pay-Per-View but I NEED Randy Orton to beat John Cena. I’m kind of tired of this heel thing.
