The struggle to get pearls...

I’m having a tough time finding pearls. 454 creatures caught and only two of them have been pearls. I know it’s good that I’m getting the diy recipes, but I can’t build them without the pearls. Anyone else getting a crappy ratio?? I know they’re supposed to be rare, but this is kinda ridiculous.

EDIT:It looks like it really varies from person to person. I think everyone can agree that their approach to the mermaid collection was ridiculous. It should have been recipes first, then items and pearls. The spawn rate of pearls is crazy. I know they’re supposed to be rare, but diving for 100 critters- you should at least have one pearl. I hope everyone’s able to finish the collection before summers up. Good luck everyone

Quite the opposite, that's almost the only thing Pascal gives me. I have 2 other characters I'm using to help me get the diys, otherwise I'd have like 2. The diys are the hardest for me. I haven't found a huge amount of pearls just from diving but I've found a decent amount I think. When you are looking for them they are the smallest shadow and they don't move. If you see a small shadow and it moves(kicks up a dust cloud) it's a sea slug. If it's small and doesn't move it's either a pearl or an acorn barnacle. I'm trying to figure out if the bubbles are different for those 2. I hope this helps.

Not really having this issue, I get plenty of pearls from Pascal to make the furniture if I would want to. I think most people are struggling more with the actual DIYs

I haven't been tracking actual numbers, but I think I average around finding 4-5 pearls per week from diving. I get a DIY from Pascal every few days. XD I can come by and drop off 5 pearls on your island if you want. :3

You could make extra characters to get more pearls from Pascal or get the diys and sell them to get more pearls

I am also having a hard time finding pearls. I have only found 3 pearls on my own the rest I got from pascal.

I've been having the opposite problem - Pascal gives me mostly pearls and no recipes. As far as just getting pearls from diving though, they've been very rare for me. I think I've only gotten 3 so far, and I have done a lot of diving!

I don't dive a ton compared to most but I have gotten at least 4 DIY's from pascal and still not a single perl to my name since the update

The struggle is real! I’ve yet to find a pearl diving on my own, I might have gotten 2 from pascal & a couple of diys here & there. But I don’t play as much as everyone else so that obviously contributes to my low count of pearls/pascal DIYs.

It’s actually the opposite for me too, I’ve collected maybe 4-5 from diving and pascal has given me another ton, he’s given me 2 bits of clothing and 4 recipes and the rest has been pearls, I’ve been diving for a scallop a day since the update but they are Definately rare if Pascal isn’t giving them to you

I don't dive too much but my sisters dive until they find pascal each day, and they're both receiving lots of pearls, clothing items, and most rarely DIYs. I'm surprised nintendo made it so difficult to get those ones with most it's just luck and popping a balloon or picking up a bottle, with the mermaid DIYs you need to put in a decent amount of work to have a small chance of getting one

Memorize the bubble pattern of scallops and go after those for Pascal. Pearls themselves won't move, so don't bother catching anything that's not a small stationary shadow with a medium amount of bubbles.

All I seem to get off Pascal is pearls at the moment. I read somewhere you need 20 Pearl's for all the diys and I have 20 now and I've made 6 items already so I really dont need any more

I got all of mine from Pascal so far. No luck diving. But the ratio has been good, I've been getting the amount I need to craft the DIY after I get it... It's balanced

I used to get more pearls from Pascal than I did with diving. I completed the DiYs and clothing, but that's one thing I've noticed when I was grinding for them.

I've also been getting the opposite luck. I got 5 pearls today alone from diving when I was out looking for my Pascal scallop (and then he gave me a pearl as well)

Strangely enough, pearl from spongebob appeared and slapped me till some weird shaped pearls fell out of my mouth.

I think the hunt for them turn out good.

I've also had the worst time trying to find pearls. I think I've only found 2 myself, and the rest are from Pascal, but even then it's not many. I'm hoping once he gives me all the DIYs he'll start giving me pearls instead of duplicate recipes.

I have found that I only find pearls on a particular part of the ocean surrounding my island, mainly the top left corner. I don't know if that's just where they randomly spawned a few times but I've never found one anywhere else! I've dug up about 6 peals since we first were able to dive, the rest I got from Pascal or bought on the forum! I have no clue how people have so many stacks to sell even with TT. I'm pretty sure I could dive for half of the day and find none most days!

There's actually guides to finding certain creatures online. Pearls are very small and don't move like other creatures often do. Usually the bubbles on the surface are small and straighter than other creatures. So keep your eye out for small shadows and light/straight bubbles!
