The time I almost lost 5 years of progress in acnl

I have a hacked 3ds with both homebrew and cfw installed with tons of games and apps.

One time I decided to try to hack my acnl town using the acnl online save editor.

I followed youtube guides for this that said I had to move the modified garden.dat file to the sd card and somehow I corrupted my save when importing that file with my save editor.

I booted up my copy of acnl and I was horrified to see a small town tree and villagers on the title screen I never had in my town.

But worst of all it said the save was corrupted and needed to be erased and by that point my heart was beating like it was about to explode.

I frantically started to browse google for solutions and luckily I had a backup of my town but I was unsure if it would work and the message that said my save was going to be erased scared me badly.

Eventually I decided to import the backup and restore my town from that backup and vo?la it worked to my great relief.

Booting up my copy of acnl and seeing my town with my favorite villagers on the title screen like Jitters and Maple made me really emotional.

Entering my town and seeing it after restoring the save was also quite the emotional experience for me and talking to my villagers who I would have lost forever along with my town had it not been for my backup saved on my pc.

Has anybody else had an experience like this where you almost lost your town and managed to restore it with no problems?

I swear this kind of experience is like having a child that is fatally ill and to see them recover successfully from the illness.

Losing an acnl save to data corruption with no backups is like watching a child die and where you can't do anything about it.

back in my acww days, yeah. i never knew about ac but my dad bought an r4 off someone at work. the cart had so many games and i was transfixed! it gave me a great childhood. i messed up backing up/reloading the saves one day and i literally deleted the save for my first ever town and i think i cried so much i legitimately peed my pants. it turned out that save 2 was a backup i'd made a few days before and i was so happy. it was made better by the fact that when i booted it up there was a rainbow in the sky and roald was there waiting for me! phew.
