The Villager Giveaway Thread!

At one point you were looking for 10 (give or take) villagers. So is the random person who is looking for 10 right now. Now you have 2 left, but the random person has 10 left. You both had the same odds of getting a dreamie when you started wanting 10. Shouldn't the random person be allowed to catch up to you and have the same odds? Shouldn't they be happy with a town of dreamies just as you are?

Absolutely, but keep in mind that the 7 dreamies I got took a lot of work and sleepless nights on my part. So if I am on the board and someone is giving away my dreamy first come/first serve, no I don't think I should have to forfeit for someone who has none. They can TT and reset and do the campsite trick just like I did.

(don't feel like quoting but pretend I did)
If someone has a full/almost full dream town, and another person has no/few dream villagers, wouldn't it be more fair to give a mutual dream villager to the one who has gotten 0 from the topic, rather then 20?
That would be an extremely kind thing to do..but people are very competitive about getting dream villagers. People who are near to finishing their dream villagers list have probably worked very hard to do so and would expect people who are just starting off to do the same

Someone else's dream villager list should not be your responsibility. It's one thing to help someone look out for their dream villagers, but everyone is at different levels at finding their dream village. It's just silly to pause your efforts of finding dream villagers just because someone else happens to want the same person. We're all putting in the same amount of effort, to get the same result. I've been rejected my dream villagers more than 3 times now, and regardless how many dream villagers the other person got, I was happy for them because they worked just as hard.

Or they could get some from the thread just like you did. For popular dreamies, many people agree that a raffle would be more fair then first come first serve. That way people with 0 dreamies and 9 dreamies alike have an equal chance of getting the villager. Many people want Whitney, so they all entered the raffle.

Also, I have found that people who are just starting have lists that are very fluid. They have these dreamies and as their town comes together they decide they want someone different. I realize this is not always the case, but if we did as poliwog proposed and stopped getting villagers until everyone was at say, 5, this board would never work.

Like I said, it's up to the person giving the animal away how they want to give the animal away. Not really seeing you point here...

Absolutely they could get some from the thread. But I did a lot of work on this thread and a lot of work on my own resetting and TTing to get those dreamies.

So we should deny new players the chance to get dreamies because their lists may or may not change? Also we should talk about this somewhere else or stop talking about it because this thread is for giveaways only now

You are the one who brought it up, I simply responded. At no point did I say they couldn't get them from this thread. I said I don't agree that people with 1 or 2 left should have to forfeit for those with none.

I know I brought it up I just remembered that we're not supposed to talk about other stuff here. I said that people shouldn't have 9001 dreamies while others have 0. (I'm not saying you did its a hypothetical situation again)

Looking for any Snooty or Uchi that has boxes packed TONIGHT. PT if you have one :)

And on that point I absolutely agree with you. It is unfair when people snag up all of the highly desired villagers to turn around and trade or sell them. I'm not doing that, and most on this board aren't. I put in a ton of work to get the villagers I have, and I don't think I should be denied finishing my dream list because someone hasn't obtained any. I wish you the best of luck in obtaining your dreamies and I will keep an eye out for them for you just like I do anybody else whose list I am familiar with.

Yikes claws are out in this topic. Cielle, how are you responding so calmly?

Everyone who gives out villagers here have different methods than everyone else.
I personally post on the thread and it's first come first serve. Unless they're ultra popular, I don't even care if its a dreamie or not. That's just the way it works for me. I could care less how close some people are and how far away others are. Do not get me wrong, I don't dislike new people, I love them as much as I love the regulars. I get so excited when I see a fresh face here with a new category of dream villagers that I want to help. But it's the people who watch the topic that get the villagers first.

And honestly, as someone who is super close to their dreamie list (and I have changed it slightly once and you should be allowed to), it's extremely exciting to be /so/ close. I cannot wait to finish so I can seriously start focusing on handing out villagers on my second village as opposed to possibly using them to barter. I cannot wait to finish so I can lay paths down. I don't blame anyone for going after finishing their dream village and they shouldn't have to pass one the ONE or TWO dreamies they have left just because someone else wants it and they have less dreamies.

I'm looking for Fang (my last dreamie super exciting!) He's going to be tough to find I know!

Thank you Chu, that means a lot :)

Sometimes dream villagers change though. Personally, I haven't had a set list of dream villagers I've wanted (except for Whitney and Vladimir), so I just looked out for villagers that appealed to me. Once I got them though, I would change my mind sometimes and give them up to people who wanted them more than I did. Yeah it sucks that sometimes people feel the need to snatch up every wanted villager and keep them just because they can, but honestly nothing can be done about it. Everyone has an equal chance of getting their dream villagers on here. Nobody has any advantages over others. But stuff happens. You just gotta roll with the punches and try to get what you can and be happy with it.

But yes it is an awful feeling to see someone just take up a villager you want. :c

Yeah--I'm down to 4-5 (depending on if the thing for Maple pans out...) and it's pretty exciting so I can only imagine how people closer feel.

And honestly, as someone finishes, they can devote more time to helping others so I don't see how that is a bad thing.

I do agree though that it's disheartening to see someone get something and then decide "oh hey, I don't want it anymore" or something and then try to get something out of it and it's like...think of the people who you beat out :(

@cielle yes I have them! :)
Just need to update my signature but can't be bothered at the mo.

@Chu did you find a wart jr lover?

I didn't mean that if there was a dreamie Cielle wanted and nobody else responded for a day asking for it the giveawayer should start time travelling back a year to make sure that a new person who wanted the villager would get them. But if someone with an almost complete town and one that's just getting started wanted a villager and posted at similar times, there should be a raffle, or the person without tons of dreamies should get the villager. I think that someone without dreamies would be just as excited to start their dream town as someone who was almost finished theirs.

Well said :)
