This thing gave me nightmares for 5 years

The only thing scary in that movie was the acting.

And the fact that they never bothered to credit the actors playing the characters, instead crediting the characters themselves.

Something that freaked me out something fierce was the part in The Brave Little Toaster when the A/C unit exploded.

I watched the Exorcist, The Omen, and Salems Lot, when I was really young. Scared the heck out of me and gave me nightmares for years.

As an adult, the Grudge was really scary for me. The little boy in that movie gave me nightmares, and I couldn't sleep.

It probably would have scared me when I was younger if it was not a Scooby-Doo movie.

You know, I wasn't scared of him as a kid, and I think he's cool.

What is this from?

---

I didn't watch a lot of kids shows stuff as a child. The couple of nightmare-inducing things that scared me were in random movies shown on late-night tv that featured graphic murder scenes, which I of course should not have been watching. I saw one memorable movie that featured death by garden implements (the pitchfork being the most notable), where many/all of the characters were dressed in a style I later learned was Amish. No idea what the movie was called but it's creepy atmosphere struck a cord and I was very wary of garden sheds for years afterwards. In hindsight, it could have caused a lot more damage to me, I'm lucky to have come out of that relatively unscathed.

On a vaguely related note : 4 year olds should not be watching late night tv under any circumstances. Single parents who are unwell can easily fall asleep by accident in front of the tv before putting the kids to bed - which is what happened to me. In the event of a sick adult with one or more children to care for - *get help* and turn off the tv *before* any inappropriate content might be shown, AND hide the remote (plus have adequate parental controls set on everything so kids can't get to the content even without a remote, since smartphones can be remotes now).
