Thoughts about what’s hot today at brothers shop?

When I was new to the game I didn't know how to go online and trade and I had no idea time travel was possible. I worked too much to be able to check turnip prices regularly. So I paid more attention to the hot item of the day and would try to make money when it was a stone item or iron item. I also spent a lot of time grinding for money fish. Anything to pay for infrastructure!

the fact that i was confused for a moment as to what you meant probably sums up my thoughts pretty well lol. i used this feature daily in the beginning but now i only check if i have to complete the “sell a hot item for a fortune” nm+ achievement. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I used it way back when I collected and saved mats on the ground for when anything that used a mat I had a ton of and had decent base resale value came up, but now all my excess mats are in an alt's storage and I just used gold/blue rose wreaths to make money (when I can be bothered)

I check it fairly often when I want to have some guidance on what to do. Sometimes I get lucky and have an iron item be on sale and then it's a good jackpot.

It's a fun little thing to check and it is nice to have another option to make more bells outside of turnips, flowers, and fruit. And bugs, fish, or sea creatures.

i don't check it often...i expected to make a lot of bells from crafting the stuff on the sign since they're supposed to pay higher for it but they really don't. i only sell the hot items when i need to for the nook miles

I think its a good concept, just executed very poorly, especially later in game. Like everyone else has already mentioned, its good when you are in the early phase of your island's development. You are busy trying to obtain recipes and craft them for the ticks. When starting out you are also low on Bells so the "Whats hot" is a good way to sell the recipe items that you just crafted, in case you didnt need them. For me, I haven't checked the "Whats hot" sign since probably last year and I probably won't check it now. Its just not necessary at a certain point in the game, sadly, and there are better ways of obtaining Bells.

I never look at it. The amount of money they pay for something doesn't seem worth the time and resources

I honestly had no idea what you were talking about at first 😅. I never thought of the store as the brother’s shop and I forgot all about the what’s hot. I used to check often but not all the time, before I decided to buy bells on TBT (too lazy to fish and catch bugs or dive and never up when daisy mae is here and don’t feel like bothering people to sell turnips). One of the last times I checked he asked for mermaid furniture 😅.

Sometimes i check it just to see what is hot but i’ve never actually sold anything. It takes way too much time to craft things to sell. It’s so much easier doing turnips or bugs/fish. Turnips obviously are the best way to do it and with so many avenues of turnip profit calculators and turnip markets that allow you to visit someone and sell, i can’t imagine making money in the game any other way. I have a few hundred million bells now and it’s nice to finally have the grind put to rest. i also despise the gold furniture so i sell gold nuggets as well after i make a few tools. The hot item is one of those things that just seem good in theory but the work that goes with it is ridiculous imo

I checked it quite frequently when I first got the game as it initially seemed like a good way to make more bells but I soon realised that I wasn't really earning that much selling the items, I was just wasting my time and resources crafting them. Nowadays I only check what the items are if it comes up on the daily Nook miles tasks and only craft it if it doesn't use up too many materials.
