So unlike NL in NH you can’t decide on the rooms seizes. The seizes are set.
Personally, I find it awful. I have my bedroom in the room behind the main room & i wish I could make it bigger :(
Instead, the room in the middle is super big and i have no idea what to do with it lol.
Any opinions about that? Did you work around it/ change plans for your house?

i don't like it either. i liked that in past games there were multiple upgrades for each room. i want more space!

Yeah I wish you can pick and choose which rooms are huge. The middle room is probably supposed to act like a living room type thing but I miss the bigger rooms.

personally im not a big fan of it. i like the sizes of most of the rooms, but i wish (for those that want it) that we could upgrade the size of the room if we wished.

the fact that room sizes cant be changed doesn't rly affect my house plan. i'm still making the back room my kitchen, the main room a living & dining room, the side rooms a bathroom and laundry room. but the attic being the size it is rly throws a wrench in my plans. it'll still continue being my bedroom, but i'll have to put way more decorations & furniture in there then i previously planned. my basement has always been whatever; i dont rly care about having one. i'll probably decorate it with cardboard boxes and stuff to make it look like storage, and i'll put my turnips down there too ig.

As someone who's terrible at interior decorating in these games despite owning and playing HHD and New Leaf being my biggest investment in the series, I always put the development of the town over my house :0 Really the only reason why I'm upgrading my house as fast as I am in NH is because the house storage is tied to your house size, and I use a LOT of storage. If anything the faster pace of the upgrades is actually motivating me to actually DO something with my house while I'm at it which has been fun! The slightly smaller rooms feel a lot less daunting to me to decorate.

So I personally don't mind the limitations, but i 100% understand and agree with other people's grievances with it. I don't see why not integrate a more in-depth house customization system where you can have the general option of changing the size and number of rooms you've paid for previously. And if you get another upgrade you'll need to set the house to the most recent version you upgraded it to not mess with anything. Sure it may not make the most sense "realistically" but I don't think having more customization options is gonna break immersion :0

To be honest, I don't have much of a problem with it. I've never been too into decorating my house so whether the rooms are small or big I can usually make it work because I don't have any set plans for my house.

I just realized that the smaller side rooms account for the windows we get to keep in the main room. Also I just mapped out the house using real space logic not harry potter wizard tent logic and this is one loppy house.

I'm not fussed personally about the sizes but I feel for people who are upset by it.

For now, I’m in the minority in that I actually kind of like the smaller room sizes. It feels cozier imo and I always wished that you could go back and make a room smaller in new leaf. I like how the attic and basement are both bigger and wider though.

it's probably my least liked aspects of acnh. i love this game! i really do! but the whole house upgrade system feels like they took away my choice in choosing how i want my house to look like. i liked having an uneven house in new leaf. plus upgrades are so expensive??? tom nook, why are you charging me more bells for a room that's the same exact size of the last upgrade? i wouldn't have bought upgrades, but i needed more space in my storage.

i'm not bothered by it, decorating and planning the house has always been on the back burner for me when i play animal crossing in comparison to the town so the room sizes don't really make much difference to me. the smaller rooms do seem cozier and it's allowed me to kind of more easily decorate it though. i can see how people that do spend a lot of time on their rooms dislike it as well!

I just wish we at least got the option to opt for bigger room sizes if we wanted them, and if not you could keep the default size ): I agree I don't like the big room being the entry room when there's so many other things I'd prefer having decent room size for

I often have trouble utilizing bigger spaces so I'm perfectly fine with New Horizons' approach.

i don't mind the smaller room size but i do wish there was the option to make them larger! i also wish we could choose which order to build the rooms in, because i didn't really want my side rooms but i wanted an attic and basement.

Wait, so the layout is different to newleaf's house layout?

Yes and no. The order in which your house is upgraded is pre-determined, and the size of the rooms are also predetermined after you upgrade the size of the main room.

Unfortunately I do miss the rooms from ACNL :( I barely have anything in my "kitchen" room at the moment, and it already seems stuffed. Hopefully this can be fixed in a bigger update! My interior is on hold until I'm content with my island so its not the biggest deal for me

Ah I see, so its randomized slightly so someone could have all rooms slightly smaller if they're really unlucky?

I actually prefer it this way. Like someone else said, it's more cosy and I like how it puts more emphasis on island development.

Like seriously, how can you guys can complain about space of you've literally got an entire ISLAND to decorate? LOL
